After an afternoon of razing livestock farms and massacre, Lord Bowie returned to his camp to plan for the next days mayhem. He received a report that said the enemy was finally coming to challenge him, then he looked closer and learned that it was the Lord Polemarch.
Excellent! He thought to himself, Maybe now I can have him over for tea.
He was hoping that after the battle the two could share quality time. Despite their positions as enemies, he greatly respected and admired his opponent.
Another scout came with a report that said the peasants were forming a militia. Even better! he thought to himself again, Now everyone in Xinhai will notice me.

On the road to Huanghai, the Maddening Star first battalion reaches a river with the ruins of a bridge emerging from the water.
Lord Polemarch, it appears someone tore down this bridge recently. Nearby farmers assure it was still standing less than two days ago. To reach the Aquilegian looters, we must make a detour. We won't reach them before sunrise.
Visibily annoyed, the Lord Polemarch answered to the scout
Oh well, it appears the little surprise party I had hoped to make to Bowie must be delayed then. I fear he will withdraw once he spots us.
Apparently, his men are still slaughtering kettle and burning crops. An enraged bunch of peasants wishes to join us to kill them.
Well, that man truly amazes me. I'm trying to guess what is he up to. Send scouts to the south and discover if there are other Aquilegia troops hidden nearby, I can't believe he wants to engage battle for real. Send word to the angry farmers to go home, I don't want an untrained bunch of pig herders on the battlefield.

Reading the new reports on the number of militia, and the incoming Xinhai to join the Lord Polemarch, the Holy Minister decided his mission was over. After one final rampage, he left a blatant message on a field nearby a freshly burned homestead. Among the corpses of the family that used to live there, the Holy Minister scratched his message onto a burned wooden plank. It said:
"On behalf of the Archbishop, remind Owen what he is responsible for."
Then, the Holy Black Army gathered their camp and began their departure. Soon, the Holy Minister hoped, soon they would return to fight a true battle.
