Gustav sat on his horse as the men of his unit, the Ternathian Marines, built the encampment. As he watched this, he smiled inwardly as he thought of Sir Bowie, and of how that arrogant little weasel was going to get his due once he arrived in Sallowtown. Gustav suddenly began laughing maniacally, until he noticed his Captain staring back at him.

"Uh, I, uh, remembered a funny joke the Grandmaster told me. Sorry..." he said before turning his horse around and making towards his tent as fast as possible without appearing to be in a hurry.

Gustav quickly wrote a letter to the servant of his he had watching Bowie, giving him instructions to stay out of site as much as possible without losing Bowie's trail.

Hopefully the plan would work, but certain elements were... unreliable. He couldn't do much about that though, this was the best he could come up with without abandoning the war against the heathens, and that wasn't going to happen.

After a long trudge through the thick frozen forest of Nyuushi, Bowie entered the vast barren landscape of the desert. Winter was still felt, but there was no snow, no rain, just shivering days and bone rattling nights.

This was not the first time Bowie had crossed this desert, and the last time was a profound experience. Noticing the numbers of the Scourge: undead and monsters, however, he felt he should make this visit as short as possible. It would still likely take him up to three or four days to make his way through. That is of course if he wasn't captured and eaten by the Scourge. His reports counted eighty five hordes of undead, and a whopping total of one hundred monster bands. Outside of the Divide Mountains he had never seen such a gathering before. He prayed they were not organizing into a government, that would prove the end of all civilization. The collection of vile creatures assured him there would be no food here and so he didn't bother to ask any of the local tribesmen. His sites were on Sallowtown. It would be an interesting reunion when he landed in that city, and it would also be the final leg of his trip to D'Hara.

"Through the desert first," he reminded himself, "the desert first."
