Three men on horseback approach Dragon Song as night descends upon the stronghold. As they approach, the man astride the best horse who is obviously from a wealthy family turns to his companions and says with a smile, "I did not think I would be seeing more of the Zuma so soon after Tofino, but diplomacy is a fickle woman needing constant attention. I think you will enjoy this Kimwa."

Kimwa growls under his breath and asks, "I kno dat yo first meetin done good, but dat zas in yo land wit yo peopo an now we in da Zuma land wit dere peopo. Why you no fear? look ta where we be goin! dose walls be strong an defended an de daimon on em could end ya jalike one a da gods."

"True my friend but we come in peace with good will already established, and I am an ambassador seeking to simply further secure those assurances." he pauses for a moment, "And besides what is the worst that could happen?"

"dey end us julike I say." mumbles Kimwa.

Moritz looks over the expanse of Evenfell quickly approaching as the fortress of Dragon Song fades into the distance. The three men had been riding since nightfall , and the clap of the hoofs joined by the silence of night to carry these men sleepily into Evenfell.

"Westley." said Moritz breaking the silence.

startled by the sound of his name Westley jumps as a man jumps at unexpected lightning "Yes Ambassador?"

"Go scout ahead and see if you can find us a quicker route, also keep an eye out for people. this place seems nearly deserted."

"Yes Ambassador." Westley replies as he kicks his horse and rides ahead.

Moritz and Kimwa are setting up camp as Westly approaches, "Ambassador, it appears that Nightmarsh is not far off now. In fact I think we should be entering the city limits by nightfall. Also, I noticed something strange while looking about Evenfell." Westley pauses.

Slightly louder then necessary, Moritz breaks the pause. "Yes? what is it? I pay you to scout not to keep me in suspense."

"Well my lord I did see a few Daimon under the comand of the Zuma, and their were a few people scattered around, which really is what I expected. However, I saw a bunch of archers, about 10, with a Zuma flag answering to one they called Banti, which I think is quite a discovery." Again Westly pauses, and with rising pride in his voice he states, "Thanks to my considerable skills, it appears we can safely declare that the Zuma now employ human soldiers."

"BAH!" Westly's pride so apparent a moment ago, begins to fade away at Kimwa's interjection, "you no know wat you be sayin Huhu!" started Kimwa with a vicious smile," Ya head jalike da cave, it stay all dark inside. you go tink, den you open ya mout. Da daimon be spesho guys, an da Zuma no need no odda. you gon get tricked you Huhu." Kimwa laughs as he stops, and now Westly looks completely dejected.

Mustering his courage he quietly insists, "I saw what I saw, and my word is correct."

"shut ya mout huhu." Kimwa shakes his fist, "or ya eye goin be jalike dat fo da bat, den we see who know what dey see. A..."

Quickly Moritz interrupts Kimwa, "Stop! I won't have you ruining the vision of my only scout. Now let's finish setting this camp up, we will continue on at first light."

As the sun rises behind Moritz and his companions, the city of Nightmarsh appears as a solitary tower standing on the horizon.

With a broad smile and confident tone Westley says, "See Ambassador, as I said we should arrive before sunset, my guess it will be about 3 hours or so." he looks to Moritz for approval but Kimwa answers first.

"Ok huhu." Kimwa answers with his angry grin, "you can see dat towa an guess da time it gana take ta get dare, but you no can see da birds sitten on dat towa no? yua gana speek da cola of da wings befo I tink you spesho."

Ignoring Kimwa, Moritz turns to Westley, "Well done Westley, your help on this trip has been invaluable. Now lets rest for a time, I need to wash and eat before entering Nightmarsh. appearances are important in diplomacy you know."

As the men dismounted, Westley quickly readied the wash basin for Moritz. As a matter of pride he wanted to arrive when he said they would, no sense giving Kimwa anything more to say against him.

The dirt and sand from this journey was intense, and aided by the heat it clung to the faces of the men. Moritz stares into the water before splashing it to his face, and taking a moment to let it drip he looks more intently at the gift now present on his forehead. looking at the faint outline of an eye through the watery reflection, Moritz notices that it has grown more visible since his arrival in Zuma territory. As much as he tries he cannot help thinking about what brought him here and this strange mark, "I wish Custos had told me more of this when he first gave it to me. 'I grant upon you a Zuma mark. Should you spend a great deal of time among my kind this should help to hold off the worst of the, madness, that can bring to humans.' Those were his words to me. Is Westley going to be alright? Kimwa is already mad, probably to much time around Zuma already. This mark seems important, I wonder if the Zuma can see it without the aid of reflection?" aloud he states, "I guess we shall soon find out." Splashing his face once more he rubs his head to free himself from the dirt and grime. After, the others had washed the three men ate one last meal before riding on to Nightmarsh.

I do wonder why that assassin was so interested in attacking me. Perhaps he was of more fragile mind, succumbing to the madness? Guardian Vates, perhaps you might shed some light on the matter.

"I am just saying that given the way ships seem to dip below the horizon as they head out to sea, it makes sense that the world could be spherical." Asserts Westley, obviously frustrated.

"you a crazy huhu!" An angery Kimwa replies, "all da peopo know dat wen mudda eart and foda time do da bad kina stuff ta go give life to da world, day do it in da unda side of da eart. Dey canna do it on da unda side if da eart be jalike you say. So if da eart go an be like you say, dan no life dare goinna be on da eart crazy huhu."

"But you can not mix religion and science or you are d ..."

BANG The door slams against the wall as a young man bursts into the room. Moritz, who cared very little for the conversation of his companions had been rereading the Igelfeld Family Memoirs, but with this sudden interuption he gives full, but slightly agitated, attention to the newly arrived.

The messenger bows to Moritz and panting heavily he says, "My Lord! pardon the abrupt nature but happenings are of foot that demand you immediate attention. Rumors are circulating that Leofricus Draekarne a noble of Asylon has attacked a fellow noble here in Nightmarch, and I am afraid these rumors appear to be true."

Moritz's jaw drops in utter shock, stumbling for words he asks, "ah... Was it a, a duel? An honourable fight?"

"I am afraid not my lord."

Mortiz grits his teeth and turns in disgust, "Well?! was he prevoked? insulted? belittled? robbed? Did he trip and accentually stab this man? there must be more to this rumor!"

"I hesitate my lord, for the news is not good..." the messanger bites his lip and deepens his bow.

"Stand and report, that is why you came."

Nervously shifting his weight the messanger continues, "My lord, the rumor states that Leofricus Draekarne was captured fleeing from Garret Artemesia's rooms."

Everyone in the room look attentively to Moritz, unsure of what would follow. Closing his eyes and softly rubbing his forehead Moritz says in a a quite calm voice, "Please wait outside, I shall have need of you shortly."

As the messenger exits the room, Moritz picks up his pen...

Nobleman Garret Artemesia,

I know not the circumstance that caused a noble of Asylon to act in such a way towards you, but you have my assurance that his actions were his alone and Asylon harbors no hatred or dislike against you. I hope that it is as you say, and this place was simply too much for his weak mind.

There is a rumor in Asylon that Knight Leofricus had found some very special plant life in Gonophor with the ability to make you see the spirits of our world. I worry that perhaps he has journeyed with those plants one to many times and you were nearly the victim. Did he seem in his right mind to you? I assure you he will be punished for his actions regardless of his state of mind.

Sincerely,
Moritz Von Igelfeld (Ambassador of Asylon)

Honourable Vates,

I would like to express my deepest regrets that this unfortunate event has occurred within your city. Leofricus was acting on his own accord and strictly against the will of Asylon, and the High Magistrate of Asylon will soon be looking into this affair.

Sincerely,
Moritz Von Igelfeld (Ambassador of Asylon)

... As Moritz stows his quill He says softly to his companions, "He had best be insane, or floating happily in another world. For if he was in his right mind," Moritz shakes his head, "I shall have to teach him how to use a blade and more than a few cuts will grace his physique afterwards." "Westley, give these letters to the messenger for delivery."
