Johann, the only son of Adam and Katheline Hynes, grew up on the family estate in Woolton. He had spent his life studying the words of the greatest minds on the east continent. Well educated, well spoken and well schooled, Johann was the first Hynes to take up arms in the war against Ibladesh.

He marched to battle with a small group of House Men at the age of 20.

Tragedy struck at Al Aquabah, however, and the ProudBlades were killed almost to a man. Johann, growing more and more depressed as his men died on the long march back to Woolton until only three out of the nine survivors of the campaign remained and he began to question his decision to go to war every day for the next month.

Due to complications from a grievous wound suffered in Troyes during his first encounter with the NA, Johann was forced into early retirement from military service. He tried writing a book, but found drinking much more entertaining and lapsed into a life of liqeur, whores, and gambling until Sirion soldiers stormed Partora.

Much to his chagrin, he lead the same civilian Archer unit he had spent a year chasing monsters with into battle against the elves.

He returned to his role as leader of the PSF shortly after his first battle against the Ibbies after having returned to active duty. He served as Battlegroup leader until being relieved shortly after the end of the war.

During a heated debate over the Peace Treaty in Perdan, Johann was challenged to a Duel of Honour 'til Death by the Perdan Hero Thorad Jorvik. After having his courage called into question by many nobles of Perdan, Johann knew that if he refused the challenge he would be labeled a coward. He met and killed Thorad in single combat.

For his continued service to the realm, Johann was awarded the position of Count of Mulhouse and served faithfully until the region was turned over to Caligus.

He became a Mentor and wrote his thoughts on the events of The Great War at the age of 27.

At the age of 28, he participated in the invasion and subsequent liberation of the Kalmar Islands from the tainted hands of Avamar. After the battle, he threw up a challenge against any man who would face him, and the Avamarian Fionn MacCumhal, the only Noble in Kalmar who embodied the once glorious ideals of Avamar and deserving of the rank of Knight, stepped forth. Johann faced Fionn in single combat and defeated him in a fierce battle, slaying him quickly and with uncharacteristic mercy.

At 29 he was made the temporary Duke of Chaos Temple, given the responsibility of restoring production on Chaos and the southern Isles before the creation of the new realm as well as the Marshallship for the successor of the PSF, the Perdan Lions.

At 31, Johann Hynes left Perdan for the South-Easte Island realm of Ikalak, and then switched sides to fight with Taselak. At 35, Johann returned home to Perdan, to fight against Ibladesh once more.
