Historical Events and People/Edge's Story

This is a transcript on an IRC conversation that occurred somewhere around October 27, 2006. Edge used to play a character in Perdan somewhere around 2003. I believe he stopped playing due to health issues. In any case, this is his account of the events surrounding Perdan's "betrayal" of Sirion that was a pivotal event in the history of the EC, and resulted in the military campaign that eventually resulted in the near destruction of Perdan. I have edited out all the superfluous comments, and comments on the histories of other islands, like Atamara. I still have the raw log files if they are needed for some reason.

Note: I have no doubt that there will be some strenuous objections to the accuracy of this account. Please do not edit or alter this account. It is the personal account of one player, recalling events that occurred three or more years earlier, when he himself hadn't been playing for a few years. Feel free, however, to post your own account, and even link to it from here. The more viewpoints we have of events, the better picture we can get of what happened.

(Edge) East continent. Well. Edge was From Perdan :)
(Edge) From a time when we were allied with Sirion
(Edge) But the only Sirion family i remmeber was Doc's
(Bedwyr) Doc is still alive and kicking, and recently stepped down as Prime Minister. He's now Duke of Oligarch.
(Edge) Ah, some history then:
(Edge) Helper was king of Perdan. Doc was king of Sirion, and Doc's something a Duke in Perdan
(Edge) Helper wasn't very active, Doc was prettyu much running Perdan
(Edge) Generals weren't invented then
(Edge) But if we had a general, it would have been Doc. And he was setting foreign policy, too.
(Edge) Perdan was being destroyed by enemies on all side, while trying to help Sirion invade Oligarch.
(Edge) Doc seemed quite intent on world conquest, and on using every political ploy he could. He had fan boys with basically "i love doc" in their player description. Which is funny.
(Bedwyr) Yeah, I can see that...
(Elenhir) i love doc too
(Edge) Of course, i don't think Doc was wrong to do this :)
(Bedwyr) (laughs) Indeed not.
(Edge) But some might have considered wanting to conquer the world to be bad. and from the point of view of Perdan troop leaders, we didn't want to be sacrificed in the process.
(Bedwyr) Makes sense.
(Edge) So, we orginised a quiet and peaceful rebellion of disobedience. Which was successful. Making BlackKnight King.
(Edge) Doc's duke character was banned for disobedience, when he went to attack Oligarch, against orders.
(Edge) And Perdan made peace with it's neighbours, and changed sides
(Elenhir) actually doc only wanted to conquer the northern half of the island
(Elenhir) im pretty sure he knew trying to conquer the entire island is impossible
(Edge) Really, Elenhir? I didn't realise he was so lacking in ambition ;)
(Bedwyr) I don't think banning him would work so well now...He'd just take his duchy with him, and have Sirion back it up...
(Bedwyr) So, from what I know about current affairs...
(Bedwyr) Sirion was almost destroyed.
(Edge) Well, it's difficult for a duchy to defect when the banned leader is off in oligarch lands, isn't it?
(Edge) And back then, secession hadn't been invented
(Edge) so it wasn't an option.
(Bedwyr) So, Sirion fought back, with the help of Fontan, Old Rancagua, and a few others I don't really know too much about.
(Edge) Later in Perdan we banned a treacherous duke, wolfsomeone, but got the ban on too late and he made it home to his duchy to defect. That was annoying.
(Elenhir) oh yeah i remember that
(Bedwyr) Took back Avamar (don't know if you know about the Avamar revolution, but that pissed off a lot in Sirion).
(Bedwyr) Destroyed Oligarch (that's when Doc stepped down)
(Edge) Oh, you beat Oligarch?
(Bedwyr) Yep.
(Edge) Good!
(Bedwyr) Right as I joined.
(Bedwyr) And Doc is Duke of Oligarch city...
(Elenhir) sure took them long enough
(Edge) While Perdan were allied with Oligarch, i came to dislike them :)
(Bedwyr) Hmm...Was Rancagua around back then?
(Elenhir) they had Oligarch down westmoor and surrounding regions like 4 years ago
(Bedwyr) I think Oligarch took a large part of Sirion at some point.
(Edge) They had a bad habit of making Perdan troops always take the front ranks, which considering we had to march further was very annoying. and meant no honour for us as our units always died every battle.
(Bedwyr) That would be annoying.
(Edge) Elenhir, that was about when Perdan changed sides, i think.
(Edge) Rancagua were around then, too.
(Bedwyr) Okay, so how about the Rancagua split?
(Edge) Rancagua and old rancagua?
(Bedwyr) Yep.
(Bedwyr) Okay, you know about it then?
(Edge) Doc used to run Rancagua as well, back when he was running Perdan.
(Elenhir) Doc ran everything
(Edge) Rancagua with Sirion help destroyed, um, Omsk or something
(Elenhir) well there were a few select people that had high ranking characters in all the realms they were in
(Bedwyr) Old Rancagua (the monarchists) won, and Rancagua has been destroyed.
(Edge) Damn i should remember the name of the place, i started a character there.
(Elenhir) its Omsk
(Elenhir) I was for the taking of the capital
(Elenhir) when I started the war was Sirion, Eleador, Racangua vs Omsk and Oligarch
(Edge) Anyway, after Omsk died, Doc's influence was lost as i think that character moved to Hasland on Atamara.
(Edge) If i remember correctly
