You do Cause Pain Hannibal, Face it

Roleplay from Thrydwulf
(Personal message to Hannibal)
Again Hannibal, I thank you for your open and honest answers, at least to most of the questions. I do not handle the politics for my realm. That is my Queen's position and her duty to the realm of Heen. Mine like you say is on the battlefield.

I am young to be a General so it is said. Then, what is the role of a General? To lead the nobles under your command esteemed enough to be able to command a unit for themselves into battle for the betterment of the realm that they grew up in?

I have known war all my life. I fought for Perdan after i came of age where i learnt how to command the different types of units, and how to manage them best. Then i came to Beluaterra, where i fought for Joppo under a different chain of command, against Mesh and just before leaving the largest legion of undead i have ever seen. Finally i moved to Heen, where i was able to learn from 3 nobles who excelled in warfare. Our Queen being one of them, while we unified the desert.

So, while i may be young, i have learned a lot - although you can never know enough, as only a fool thinks he knows all. The nobles of Heen actually appreciate a younger General who has no qualms about riding out at the front of his army, a General they know has a lot of life in him, a lot of friends, and open to change/suggestions. I tend to find that the older members of "society" usually get stuck in their ways.

Mutiny and Rebellion are of course quite common amongst humans, for Greed is one of our worst qualities. But no, despite you calling me a "good sir" or "my friend" i do not command a horde. This morning was the first battle i have lost since becoming High Marshall of Heen, and you are almost right - it was lack of numbers. However, it was not only the lack of numbers, it was the assumption we would have support from others and the planning around this assumption. So there was my first mistake...assuming the monsters would come.

I do not think this a game, and that is not where i made my mistake. This is very real or you would not have come to bother us. My questions have not been to spark something, but to ease my mind as to why you are here. You must have been an important man in your time and your realm would surely have been sad to have lost you. Sad for the loss, but proud to have someone fight so hard as to give their life. You are wrong about not causing more pain and all the other things. You do. Most days we get reports of how the public are fleeing in panic due to the appearance of undead/monsters in our regions. These i take it are the deserters from your underworld armies. Your arrival (and that of your enemies the monsters) on this continent has caused much angst within realms. True it has united many of the realms onthe continent for a humankind world peace, but within the realms, that is where the destruction lies. And this i know you know.

One of the most important things in war is knowing your enemy. Are you stronger than the monsters when it comes to fighting the Daimons?
