Heen (Realm)/Heenite Highlights/August '07/Seamus Dances with Alana

The table Seamus and Alana were dancing on jolted from under them. Luckily Seamus caught his balance and Alana.

“Have a bit too much to drink there Thrydwulf?”

Seamus corrected Alana’s balance and they began to dance once again. Seamus never really noticed how pretty Alana’s eyes were. The music stopped because Erin needed a break.

“Seamus I need a break.” Erin said rubbing his wrist.

“Doesn’t your captain know how to play bagpipes?” Seamus asked.

“Aye he does! Captain Malachy, play me the song. The Mist Covered Mountain.” Erin Yells. “I’ll sing it!”

Captain Malachy readies his pipes. Seamus takes Alana’s hand and helps her down from the table. They sit down next to each other waiting for the song to start. The pipes set in slowly.

“Thrydwulf! Take this drum. It’s a bodhran. Hit it like this.” Erin demonstrates. “With this rhythm.” The beat was slow. Thrydwulf starts and times it perfectly. Erin begins to sing.

He begins to sing. “Hoo, ho, soon shall I see them O! He ho see them, O see them O! Ho ro soon shall I see them The mist covered mountains of home There I shall visit the place of my birth And they'll give me a welcome the warmest on earth All so loving and kind and full of music and mirth In the sweet sounding language of home There I shall gaze on the mountains again On the fields and the woods and the burns in the glen And away among the corries beyond human ken In the haunts of the deer I shall roam”

The song ends and the pipes drone out.
