Anne

Countess of Esgalons

Anne, the daughter of Timothy and Drieir Gibson, began her career at the age of 17. Anne entered service to the Cagilan Empire as a Dame of Nida. After being assigned to the Guardians of Ered Luin (now the Fyrd of Ered Luin), Anne has made her mark across the Cagilan Empire by defending her homeland against monsters and undead. She was captured by monsters once in early March (2009). She currently holds member status in the Foresters Guild, the Estas Oth Mithas Guild, and the Imperial Movement Guild. She also commands a unit of 40 archers who performed numerous hours of civil and police work when the colony, Coria, was forming.

In June, Anne was made Steward of Nida and shortly afterwards was appointed to the position of Countess of Esgalons by Duke Salvador Zond.

Roleplays

(November 2009)

As she carefully fit the base of an arrow against the bow's string, Countess Anne looked over and nodded to Captain Alfreid.

"Please do the honors, Captain," Anne said.

The Captain nodded and faced resolutely forward, watching as a few beasts approached in the distance. Suddenly, Alfreid yelled over the howling wind,

"Ready!" "Aim!" "Fire!"

In unison, 40 bow strings drew back. Their arrow heads glistened in the morning sunlight as they were aimed upward. Speeding up, the arrows briefly darkened the sunlight pouring through the trees before arcing down upon their unsuspecting prey.

To the right, the archers of Sirs Xyst and Frosty unleashed a storm of arrows upon the charging beasts. One by one, the monsters fell, pinned to the ground.

"Well, this was entertaining," Anne remarked to no one in particular. "No need to train today, Alfreid, I think we've already got in some good target practice."

(March 2009)

When Anne finally escaped, she was exhausted. Her clothing and long dark brown hair was a mess but she was relieved to be heading home.

On the her way to the northern part of the empire, last week, to combat the Monster and Undead epidemic, Anne found herself ambushed by a pack of Monsters in Avrende. At first, it looked as though she and her archers might be able to hold the creatures off with their magnificent storm of arrows. Without infantry or militia support, though, they were vulnerable. When the creatures charged, her men were cut to shreds. Her archers fought courageously, but their equipment was no match for close combat and more than twenty of her good men were killed instantly.

In the midst of the battle, Anne was suddenly pulled off her horse and knocked out cold. When she awoke, she deliriously found herself being dragged away from the battlefield on the ground by a group of Monsters. They had placed a dark, smelly, disgusting sack over her head and she could see nothing.

Haven't you the decency to atleast let me walk? Anne asked the monsters, but they only grunted back.

The monsters dragged her along for what seemed like days before they finally stopped. They had arrived at the monster's hideout. After the sack was yanked off her head, Anne was pushed into a crude prison. When the creatures offered to prepare her some meat for dinner, Anne accepted readily. Just as she was about to take a bite, the monsters sneared at her in their raspy voices and mockingly told her that they had prepaired her a delicacy - human flesh. Suddenly feeling nauseous, Anne struggled to keep from vomitting and recoiled into the corner. She was kept prisoner for days before a chance afforded her the means to escape. Anne took it readily, slaying several monsters in the process, and felt no remorse.

As she walked back through the forest to find the battlefield and what remained of her unit, Anne dreamed of delicious hot food and a long hot bath. But she gently steered her mind away from that and reminded herself that their would be much work ahead to do.
