The Gaeric Family

The noble house of Gaeric has a long history, although not all of it in a single land. Originating in the forest regions of what is now called Braga, the Gaerics were a hardy folk, low born at the time. Because of having no official restrictions on who they were allowed to marry and have children with, the Gaeric family constantly interbred with other families and races. For ten generations, the Gaerics of Braga were little known, unimportant, and happy. Some grew to be adventurers, but most farmed the and and hunted wild game. It wasn't until one of the younger members, a man named Darren Gaeric, gained fame in the area that is now Westmoor that things began to change for the Gaerics. Through deeds of valor, Darren had earned a Knighthood, and become a noble, making his direct family nobles in the process. Rebuilding the then dwindling Gaeric clan in his granted lands, the once rag tag clan of farmers and huntsmen became noble, proud knights and adventurers, prizing nobility in action and honor, as well as respect for all who have yet to lose it. The Gaeric family is close knit, looking out for each other and those they consider their own with a kind of care not often seen in Noble families. At some point in the lost annals of time, the Gaerics migrated to the region now known as the Obsidian Islands, coming to reside in the region currently known as Alvaret. Retaining their noble status, they fast became well known in the Obsidian Islands for their loyalty to those they served and the honor they hold so dear.

Due to their early start as common folk, and their disregard for marriage laws, the Gaerics have traces of elvish, dwarven, and daemonic blood, though they are dominantly human. A gaeric hasn't married out of his/ her race in several generations. The Gaerics are generally a tall folk, strongly built and good looking. The dominant hair colors are brown and black, but from time to time a blond or red headed member will spring up. Almost all Gaerics have green eyes. Gaeric males begin training with weapons and tactics almost as soon as they begin walking. Gaeric women, while encouraged to take up some form of combat training, are usually left to more domestic matters. Gaerics pride themselves on producing warriors worthy of recognition and respect. They are taught while young that though they should always be wary of people, they should always treat them with respect and decency regardless of race, religion, or political beliefs. The common saying among the Gaerics is "Judge a man on the content of his heart and on the merit of his actions, and never on his appearance or beliefs."

Currently, in the Nation of the Obsidian Islands, two sons of House Gaeric, Marcus and Damian, are serving local barons. Marcus, Knight and Steward of Lundel, is slated to become the next Head of Family, and leads the infantry Unit known as "The Silver Fangs". His Liege is Lady Solaria of Lundel. Damian, Marcus's youngest brother, serves Malius Songslayer, Viscount of Stora, as his Knight. The Middle Child, Simon, is off in a distant land as an adventurer, a hunter of monsters and undead who collects the bounties on them for a living. Supposedly, every five years, the brothers come together for a week of drinking, story telling, rough housing, and merry making.
