Report from Ecthelion Tezokian
Proposal:

In an effort to save our friends of Eponllyn from destruction, Sirion makes the following decree:

1. Sirion will provide the Primus duchy to Eponllyn to re-establish itself in as a fully autonomous realm.

2. Eponllyn will run, manage and collect taxes from these regions to support it's expenses and needs.

3. Sirion maintains all ownership rights and privileges of these regions throughout Eponllyn's autonomy.

4. Eponllyn agrees to return these regions to Sirion upon establishing sufficient external regions to support itself, diplomatic/external situations allow a mostly peaceful and safe environment to do so, or 90 days after Sirion issues a formal request for them to be returned, whichever situation arises first.

5. The leaders of Sirion and Eponllyn will work together to organize a safe, efficient and timely transfer of regions in both the handover and return of the Primus Duchy.

6. Eponllyn will not lower relations with Sirion and it's allies while it possesses the Primus Duchy, but is not bound to any other diplomacy or policy restrictions.

Prime Minister Ecthelion Circle, Rulers,

I understand now what uncle Doc said when he mentioned on my father's table "You know you have hit the bullseye, when Circle's letters get long and personal".

Prime Minister, you can argue as much as you want - you have been caught with your pants down. You can try to sneak out of this diplomatic embarassment as much as you want - keep trying. You can even try to defame me as much as you want - which - and that shows how desperate you are - you do.

But all this doesn't change the hard facts on hand here. And I will no borther answering to your insults and hypothetical scenarios what you have done till now and what you will do. Or even to the ridiculous thought to destroy Sirion.

I shall resume for everyone therefore:

We have a free realm - Eponllyn. This realm needs new lands to settle. It basically has two choices how to do this. One is through war, one is through diplomacy.

But what is right, what is wrong? Well, both can be right and both can be wrong. So how can one find out the best solution? By bringing the question to the next level. What is legitimate?

I believe both offers by the SA and Sirion more or less as fair meant offers to Eponllyn. But are the both legitimate? No. Sirion offers things that they have occupied though the sword and war, but does Eponllyn have any claim on these lands? No. On what claim then can Eponllyn settle on these lands? Well, frankly, it hasn't any. That's why Sirion also offers such terms. Which are terms of vassalization - and nothing else! Eponllyn shall become a frontline vassal of Sirion - and as good Thomas already pointed out - should expand into another territory in order to return at some point the endowed lands. Go ask Nivemus. How many wars have they led against Sirion? A realm that was also endowed by Sirion. When I see therefore these terms I fear for Westmoor and the Obsidian Islands.

And for the sake of completeness, would have the SA offer been legitimate? Yes. Why? Well to keep it short, it is one thing to fight for your rights against an elven oppressor of human territories from Oligarch till Karbala - and it is one thing to enslave oneself in order to receive lands and be not at all an independent realm. Our option would have been the first one, of course. Eponllyn could fight, side by side with the humans in the south for a new home, on lands that once belonged to humans. That would give them a claim, a claim through the sword for a just cause. Remember my words: Freedom is not a gift, it is something that is earned!

Summarizing, the Southern Alliance as institution of free realms stands here with Westmoor will not accept another human slave state of Sirion in the north. It is in your hands.

Respectfully, Sir Atanamir of Umbar King of Perdan

Betholm: 5,500 CS Nimraw: 2,500 CS Zamor: 9,100 CS Itor Boss: 25,750 CS

Four regions, over 40,000 CS of monsters, with a sprinkling of undead for variety.

So where are the armies of humanity that vowed to defend the south against all invaders, regardless of whether or not Eponllyn asked or forbid? I guess you're just too busy plotting how to slaughter people that don't agree with you.

Honestly, this has to be the most ridiculous series of conversations I have ever seen.

King Thomas complains that Sirion is violating their friendship with Sirion when they put forth a sample proposal that may, if you read it in poor light while drunk and squinting just right, appear to be inciting Eponllyn to attack Westmoor. Yet I didn't see any objections from Westmoor when the Southern Alliance put forth a joint proposal, of which King Thomas was given a copy, that explicitly required Eponllyn, backed by the forces of the Southern Alliance, directly attack and seize the duchy of Oligarch from Sirion. And there's no pretending that you were unaware of the proposal. There were several letters circulated with you as a recipient that discussed the matter. And the Southern Alliance makes it a point to insist that all proposals and deals are joint deals among all rulers of the Southern Alliance. So, King Thomas, how do you rationalize that Sirion's possibly vague hints were tantamount to a declaration of war, but your own complicity in a direct plot to attack Sirion was perfectly in keeping with Westmoor and Sirion's peaceful status?

And King Atanamir, did you really just argue that Sirion has no right to grant the duchy of Oligarch to Eponllyn because Sirion doesn't really own it, because they captured it as a spoil of war, and then turn around and claim that the only way that Eponllyn could truly gain the right of ownership to the duchy ... is to capture it as a spoil of war?

And then did you really claim that Nivemus is a puppet realm of Sirion because Nivemus has never fought a war against Sirion? Doesn't that mean that Perleone is a puppet realm of Perdan? I don't recall Perleone fighting a war against Perdan. And what about Westmoor? It is a Perdanese colony, and I don't recall ever reading about a war between Westmoor and Perdan. So that must mean that you consider Westmoor and Perleone as your own puppets, to command as you will. I'm sure King Thomas is quite thrilled to learn that you still consider him your puppet. Perhaps he should start a war against Perdan and demonstrate his independence, lest Perdan continue to view them as puppet realm. In fact, why don't all the Perdan colonies demonstrate their independence from Perdan by declaring war on Perdan? Let's not forget the Obsidian Islands, too. I bet Perdan would applaud them for demonstrating their independence from foreign control.

All Eponllyn wants is to be left alone. We have made it a point to stay out of your wars. We haven't interfered, despite the multiple opportunities we have had, and the constant urging from both sides of the war. The very root of all of our proposals is that we don't want to interfere, or be interfered with. This is why we rejected the Southern Alliance's proposals to join with them and take the Duchy of Oligarch by force.

Honestly, given that all sides of the conflict wish to see Eponllyn in possession of the Duchy of Oligarch, everyone should be content and satisfied that this may actually come about. Just stop trying to control us, and force us to be indebted to your generosity.
