Dragul Family/Katrina/The Failed Marriage

This story is told by Dame Katrina Dragul.

In addition to his daughter Frekke, Mimer also had a son named Njord. Njord was a strong sailor and loved the waters. He was rugged and handsome with dark looks and steel grey eyes. When the time came to move out across the land and find a place to settle and raise a family, Njord traveled to the far reaches of the land where the giants lived. He could not bear to be away from the sea! He found his way to what is now Storm’s Keep. On his journey there in what is now Torrent’s Breath he found a beautiful woman named Skadi. She had ice blonde hair and stormy blue eyes. He was completely captured by her beauty. He stayed in Torrent’s Breath for a long while until he had won the beautiful Skadi as his bride. She wished to stay in Torrent’s Breath, but Njord could not stay long from his beloved sea. In the end she agreed to go with him to Storm’s Keep. They began a family and settled into a good life there, but storms began to invade their lives. Njord wished to be able to sail and be on the open sea and Skadi wished for him to be home with her and their daughters. Finally, they decided that it would be best to part. Skadi and her daughters stayed in Storm’s Keep and led the community there. Njord sailed to Cold Spring and on to Springdale, starting new communities in those areas. Eventually their daughters moved to the south with new husbands forming Rye, Cortlandt, and Yaren. They lived there for many generations as the realm of Springdale, until the others came and formed the new realm of Springdale and eventually joined the entire land in one realm.
