Tomorrow is mine and Nicholas' seventeenth birthday. Vidad is refusing to come to the celebration, but he is old enough to make his own choices. He'll probably be down in Wayburg with delusions of grandeur, acting as if he's a self-proven noble with a personal army. Oh well, none of the cousins ever liked him anyway. Well, I'd better go. There are still lots of preperations to be made for tomorrow, and the servants will be ending their work shortly which means Nicholas and I have to pick up the slack.

What a party! Almost the entire family, and all of our friends were here! (except Vidad, of course) Grandpa Filador gave Nicholas and I each our own flocks of goats. He won't be too happy to find out that neither of us are planning on being farmers. The food and drink was all so wonderful, except for the souflee that Nicholas made last night after the cooks left. There was, of course, lots of ale to go around, and father even broke open the first cask of Lurgrod Lager brewed this year. Speaking of father, he gave the greatest gift that he possibly could. Nicholas and I never realized how well-off our family actually was, until father entrusted seventeen archers to my command, and seventeen infantrymen to Nicholas's command. I didn't even know we had hired soldiers, except for four men that guarded our gate at night. So, tomorrow, I'll have to register these men as my personal army, and enlist in the Redspan Army. Nicholas decided to leave home and go to the South East continent to make his living. He said it wouldn't be right to have two Filadors competing for recognition in one realm. He's leaving first thing tomorrow morning. I'm sure going to miss him.

I'm officially an independent, tax recieving nobleman of Redspan, now. I left home first thing in the morning. How glorious my men looked, and they were mine. They would do my bidding at any time of the day. There are about thirty-five other nobles and lords to meet. One named wagon is my mentor. I don't really care for her much. AJ is the military leader, and yells a lot. Manaydur is the King, Johannes the Royal Treasurer, Omenn the Arch Priest. Ry2n is the Duke of Stargard, Shamus is the Duke of Sullenport, and there are two other military leaders named Leonard and Tony. Everyone with powerful positions seem nice enough. At nightfall, I arrived in Sullenport. I've never been in a city this big before. My parents took me to Riverholm once, when I was a very little boy, and I'd been to Wayburg a number of times when father needed to do buisness, but Sullenport is probably large enough to fit ten of Lurgrod in. Another big day ahead. I should get to the capital in the evening, though for as big as Sullenport is, I don't know why it's not the capital.

Stargard is a pretty neat city as well. Not as big as Wayburg, but I like it. There are lots of pubs to choose from, usually at least one on every corner. I swore fealty to Duke Ry2n Blooddiver today. He seems like a really nice person. There was a little bit of celebration about getting Byblack under our control again, but that there was much work to be done. (I don't know much about the history of this realm, but I'm told that there have been a lot of wars, and this is one of the final steps in returning to our original might). I got orders to go to Roegshore, as there have been a lot of battles around there recently. I really miss my family, though.

I went just got back to Stargard after a little trek back to Lurgrod. I didn't realize that Lurgrod was the only place that I could get healers to add to my unit. Visiting my family was quite nice, though. Vidad was irritable like always, but father gave me a little extra gold to help keep my career going. He's really an amazing man. He also said he'd send a little more in a few days, just to be safe.

Wow, I haven't written in almost a week. I've been so terribly busy. We trapsed around in the Ashlantean territories of Tichi and Barnlure and in our own Roegshore and Byblack. There were a couple of small battles, but I wasn't at any of them. The older troopleaders are very interesting to listen to, though. I got a letter from the South East Continent this morning. It was from Nicholas! Turns out, he's basically in the same position as I am, though they're in a more intense war than anything we have going here in little old Redspan.
