The History of John Darby

John Darby began his career in Ikalak on the South-West Island (March 20, '04). When he arrived in Ikalak, it was a tiny realm in need of help. He served Ikalak as both Soldier and Bureaucrat. he was particularily fond of helping reigions run more smothly.

Then came the Great Tournament of SWI. A temporary ceasefire was declared by all realms on the island in order to hold a tournament in honour of all the fallen heroes of the island. A great time was had by all, a fitting tribute to their fallen comrades. It gave everyone renewed respect for their foes, realizing that they were intelligent people too. But this tribute to their fallen friends was not taken well by all. The merriment and lack of fighting angered the gods. The god Tom, was greatly angred. And in his rage, he reached down, destroying all traces of bureaucracy on the island and leaving only bloodlust in the peasants. He then cursed the land that never again should there be the slightest hint of peace.

The destruction of the bureaucracy of which he was so fond, and the god's apparent need to treat the people of SWI as toys for his own amusement drove John into madnesss. He became a Hero and attacked his enemies without mercy, hoping for none in return. His only thoughts from then on were of ending his tortured existance. In the end, the madness completely overtook him, and he rushed the fortress of Sandalak on his own. Hoping for a qiuck death, he attacked with all his might. But his enemies did not show the same lust for blood that he did. They killed his men to the man, but left him alive. In despair, for if his enemies could not be trusted to end his life, who could, he took matters into his own hands, killing himself.
