Long ago this Shield was blessed by a long forgotten God to help beat back an undead invasion. The holy symbols elegantly scribed upon the shield imbue those who view them with courage in the face of death in any form. In some sick sense, intelligent undead are also imbued with the heightened courage and actively seek this shield for their own purposes.
