The rising tide lifts all boats

Time and tide wait for no man

Ships that pass in the night, and speak to each other in passing, only a signal shown, and a distant voice in the darkness; So on the ocean of life, we pass and speak one another, only a look and a voice, then darkness again and a silence.

Individually we are but a drop, together we are an ocean

Water is fluid, soft, and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield. Whatever is fluid, soft, and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard.

Have patience. Wait until the mud settles and the water is clear. Remain unmoving until right action arises by itself.

Trying to understand is like straining through muddy water. Be still and allow the mud to settle.

Supreme good is like water. Water greatly benefits all things, without conflict. It flows through places that people loathe. Thereby it is close to the flow of the Tidemother.

Don't bargain for fish which are still in the water.

The frog does not drink up the pond in which he lives.

We may not be the Tidemother, but we are of the Tidemother, even as a little drop of water is of the ocean.

Let's swim to the moon Let's climb through the tide Surrender to the waiting worlds That lap against our side.

Those who stare at the stars only get crooked necks, for the skies are but a reflection of the ocean underneath it.
