Members and friends of the Church of Ibladesh,

This is meant to be a brief guideline for those of you who are having a bit of a hard time choosing a patron god. First of all, allow me to encourage you. Choosing a patron god is an important step in the life of every believer and a very auspicious thing to do. It is also a necessary thing in order to raise to the higher ranks of our church.

For starters there is a simple guide line. We worship four different gods, who are forming our Pantheon:

Ramsus, our supreme leader, often is the patron of diplomats, mentors and born leaders. Sartan, god of war, usually is the choice of warriors, heroes and cavaliers. Kokini, goddess of stealth and mischief, frequently is chosen by infiltrators and Tersea, goddess of trade and economics, is the patron of many traders, courtiers and diplomats.

While this is indeed very clear and simple, choosing the right patron god is a very personal and unique thing to do. In your life as a noble your profession might change several times, but your patron god does not. You might simply choose the god/goddess that represents the profession you have now (or plan to have in the near future). I, however, would like to offer a different way. Each of our gods is defined by his or her divine characteristics. Rather than selecting a god according to the applied professions, try to choose the one that acts most simular to your own ways. This process could start with a simple question: What is my personal way to do things?

Are you a man/woman of structure and rules? Is it your way to follow orders very disciplined and are you willing to prove that you are qualified to give orders to other nobles yourself some day? Then Ramsus might be your choice. He guids us in all matters of command and leadership.

Or is your approach to life a more martial one? Protecting the faith with vigilance and dedication is one of the most pious things to do. Slaying the enemies of our faith and performing heroic deeds on the fields of battle is a certain way to earn the blessing of Sartan and the respect of your brothers and sisters.

Nervus belli, pecunia infinita (Boundless money Is the tendon of war). Is the wealth of your realm your upmost concern? Do you believe in the power of gold? Then beautiful Tersea, goddess of trade and economics, might be your choice. The one who knows how to use his gold, often is the richest of all.

Or do you prefer the ways of stealth and mischief? Is it your nature to outwit your enemies rather than to attack with the sword? Then mighty Kokini could be your patron god. Her blessing is with those that approach stealthily both with mind and body.

Whatever path you might be yours, please bear in mind that choosing your patron god is a matter of personal preference as well as a unique choice. You might want to serve Tersea, but after serving as a trader for some time you choose to protect our wealth with the sword. Or you choose to serve Ramsus, but later you decide to learn the ways of trade or even choose to become an infiltrator. You can always change your profession, but you can't change your patron god. Try to meditate on your personal way to do things and you will find the right god or goddess.

A small note before I conclude: Church of Ibladesh is a faith of diversity. There are many different views and opinions. For an example some of us believe that our gods are in fact without sex. As they are omnipotent beings this can be easily understood and I do respect this point of view. However, others, like myself, have seen our gods in their dreams as men and women and choose to worship them as such. Our church has place for both ideas, very much like it has a place for everyone who chooses to worship our Pantheon wholeheartedly. I hope this little guidline was of some help to you and wish you the best of luck in your life as a member of our church.

No one makes a greater mistake than he who does nothing because he only can do a little.
