The Second son of the Chénier family. Unmarried.

Starting Career

After immigrating from Norland, with the help of his older brother, he quickly found out that his new realm, Yssaria, was at war with another realm, Caligus. Determined to show his worth, he joined the army and went to the battlefield. Battle after battle alongside fellow Yssarian, he earned some respect of his fellow combatants. But then, earlier than he would have liked, the war ended, and he found himself without a job. That is when he started his career as a bureaucrat, waiting to collect money until he could join up with his brother, which he heard had emigrated to Fronen. A week later, after having barely collected the required ammount, he emigrated to Fronen also.

End of Fronenian Career

After joinig his former liege to whom he had been loyal since the beginning in the rebellion, LouisJoseph had no choice but to exile himself as they had failed. Is shame, he left Fronen for another realm who would accept him...

New Home

It did not take long to reach his new home, Khthon, however painful it was. He had seen his brother get captured by the vile avalonians, and he knew his fate could be very ill, with no realm supporting him. He never saw him again, and proclaimed him dead, something he saw necessary for the shame Jean-Olivier had brought them in this fiasco of his.

Khthonian Career

The realm of heroes... Louis-Joseph knew that all too well, and he knew that most of his friends went to Vlaanderen, though he would only learn the extent later, and that some had went to the east. Being a bureaucrat and a rather different opinion on foreign nations, he did not really fit in, but he still prided himself in providing a unique quality service, a service like not many others could provide, and did his best to keep all of their regions running as smoothly as possible. This whole phase of his career went rather well, with the exeption of the Apothes scandal, in which Louis-Joseph got furious when he saw the thief in their regions and chalenged him to a duel, which Apothes was quick to refuse before calling on the fronenian government to pressure his new realm. Seing it was pointless and there was nothing he could do, he had no choice but to step down, knowing he would have what he deserves eventually.

Since then, he has not had anything outstanding happen in his career. Shortly after his former liege's death, he took the sword once again and joined the army to fight the ever weakening Plergoth. Wether this gave him more respect among his peers or not, he does not know, but was none the less elected as minister of finances of Khthon on the first of april 2007. Being the first Chénier to hold such a title, he was obviously filled with joy, especially after learning of the power and influence his friends had gathered across the continent. Now having influence himself, he seeks to strengthen relations between his realm and some others.

First Mandate

To the exeption of a few bumps. Louis-Joseph handled his job well. He had innovated the realm's economy and prepared a second tax distribution scheeme, to accord more importance to the lords, within a week. However, Louis-Joseph wasn't quite as peaceful as he thought he would be. The loathed Fronen considered executing his friend, Ravenous Onyx, for a while before deciding to deport him, which agitated him greatly. Most seemed to consider his reaction exagerated, none really understanding the circumstances. He too had been involved in the Fronenian rebellion, and both of them were newly appointed council members in small realms of the Ceeded City Alliance, and Louis-Joseph saw Ravenous' trial as his own, knowing he would probably suffer the same fate should he ever be captured.

When, at the end of the month, Avalon attacked, it was the revival of old hatreds, the opening of scars. He had wanted to put Fronen and Avalon behind him, but as time passed by, he found it hard to avoid them, and he knew there could be no peace.

Landed

Another first for the Chéniers in a long, long time: Louis-Joseph has become a landed lord. Much celebrating was done by his family back home, happy to see the family influence expand even more. Since the very beginning of his career in Khthon, Louis-Joseph had been a knight of Gaxano, and after his second liege got promoted, he finally went up in the hiearchy and got what was, in his opinion, rightfully his. Louis-Joseph Chénier, Minister of Finances of Khthon, Baron of Gaxano, has, by far, provided the most fame to his family, and his career has barely started. He was, however, too busy with other buisness to correctly celebrate the event.

End of Khthonian Career

After a heated debate between himself and the Supreme Judge, count Mirari of Tindle, Louis-Joseph lost his council position at the elections. Having been tied for victory with the man since the very beginning, without even running, Louis-Joseph thought that by denouncing failings of his competitor he would have an easy victory, however he got scandal instead and lost all form of popular support. While he had intended to make this term his last (as both Minister of Finances and Supreme Judge) before moving on to his other project, count Batman of Weghie, whom he had also heavely criticized for having accepted the title of general but refusing it's responsabilities, replaced him in council. At this point he lost any kind of sympathy for the nobles of Khthon, and lost any belief in democracy. "The fools", he thought, "blinded by empty speeches and false images. I have done what no banker has in Khthon before, and yet they replace me by an inexperienced men who desires power without caring for his duties". His beliefs were confirmed shortly after, when he discovered that the food distribution system had been tampered with.

Having lost his place in the council, Louis-Joseph folded back onto himself and what he had left, Gaxano, and was sure that given the opportunity, he would have been stripped of even this by the ungrateful Khthonians. The time was good, as he had just gotten new knights, 2 of them handpicked to share his wealth with. He had doubts about them because of their valentic dedication, so he made sure to be generous and fair, serving them before the rest of the realm (for whom he didn't care anyways). Meanwhile, he decided that being a public enemy was not a good idea for his future plans, so he initiated a family investment in his region, once again to support his knights who, after all, had a slightly larger share than him of the region taxes. He then constructed brand new recruitment centers, one of the best infantry centers of the realm, and named the new troops in his honour so that his deeds would not be forgotten too quickly. Knowing he would have to step down, he also did what he could to promote his knight, Henning II, to eventually be the next baron. To reinforce the hereditary claim, he renamed the old infantry units to the former baron Henning's honour. And then he waited. He collected taxes, scouted frequently, and made sure his region was at 100%, gathering gold, always more, for he needed a fair sum.

And then he did it, he closed the temple of the Valentic Order in Gaxano, to allow him to convert the region with greater ease, and immediately after sending a message to the council vouching for Henning II as new baron, he founded his religion, The Blood Cult. For some time now he had held blood sacred, and in the few days before he did it, divine inspiration hit him. This, however, created quite an uproar in the mostly Valentic nobility of Khthon. However, with a bit of skill, diplomacy, luck, he has managed to keep himself from getting into trouble. After tending to a possessed adventurer, he left Khthon for Lemundia, a realm obviously in need whose tyrant had welcomed him. A realm that could share his hatred for valentia and the leadership of the Valentic Order.

Life in the Tyranny

Louis-Joseph arrived in the small realms with great hopes, which were quickly crushed. The realm was in chaos, nothing worked, civil disorder reigned. When the new dictator was chosen, a duke could not even be named because of it. Had he arrived sooner, it could have been much different, but he had been too late, and an undead strike meant the end of the realm as the city returned to Thalmarkin.

New Realms, New Opportunities

The realm of Neo Grehk had recently been founded, and so he decided he might be able to make a name for himself there. Quicly, he began talking with the king and duke, to which he promised he would invest alot of his family's gold into his region in return for a region of his own. He had been on good terms with the people of Estahism, though, and did not want to anger yet another faith, he had learnt his lesson with the Valentics, so he asked for a region closer to Khthon, so that he may return to see his old region and preach further there, as well as maintain the temple. The request was not granted though, and at about that time, his former knight, his protégé, closed his temple in Gaxano, making the men of his faith disband the church. This was a terrible blow to Louis-Joseph, and even though he became lord of Rolbury, an exclave which allowed him to make profits with his food surplus, he never got to rebuild another temple of his faith therre.

Making friends with the past

Louis-Joseph felt like he was truly moving on, and wanted to make sure his past never caught up with him and cause problems to him and his realm in the future, so he decided to pack up and make a short trip to Fronepu, the capital of his former realm. His was not greeted very kindly, something he had expected, but had provoqued a stronger diplomatic reaction than he had expected, and Louis-Joseph suffered alot of heat from his leaders. Once he recovered from the assassination attempt, he head back for home, warning them that the fine had been too heavy, and that he would not be able to sustain the caravans needed to feed the capital without rising the prices, something which greatly aggravated them. As he was captured by the netherworld on his way back, he lost lordship of Rolbury, and so everything degenerated as the leadership found themselves a new lord. Louis-Joseph marched back north to the realm that once housed his sister, hypocritically banned as he was arriving in the new realm's lands, once again with nothing in his name, all that had been given to him by the former king, all that he paid for too, had been taken away by the new leadership, and so he quietly lived in Thalmarkin.
