The Azriel family originated in Shuberstone, Caerwyn (Dwilight).

History

As told by the elders of the Azriel family: A very long time ago, in the Far East there where two major realms. The Svunnetland Empire and Arcaea Empires fought each other for supremacy, until they both collapsed. The break of these majestic realms lead to the creation of many smaller ones, noble families where quick to chose their allegiance and join either the one of the upcoming realms or remain in the, now decayed, original two. Amongst the chaos stood a young couple, nobles from two different families. Elizur Astlar and Neriah Grandall. Neriah was 3 years younger than Elizur.

The Beginning:

The Astlar family originated and remained in Svunnetland, and was well known for its lineage of brave Knights, having buried many legendary Heroes and raised some of the greatest Generals of those times. However, when the major realms dissolved and Svunnetland saw itself crippled, many of the family left to join some of the upcoming realms. They took with them a large amount of the family's wealth, which was a crippling hit to the family. In contrast, the Grandall family was one of wealthy merchants and traders. They ran many businesses, which did not bring them glory but much coin. In a lands meet the two family heads met, and talked about the recent turn of events. At the same time, they noticed a great opportunity when they met the other's youngest. The Astlar family was looking to recover from its lack of funds so that Elizur could honor the family name, and the Grandall family sought renown by having Neriah marry someone from such a prestigious house. So they prepared an arranged marriage. At first Elizur and Neriah were hesitant, but they learnt to love each other over time.

9 Years in Svunnetland:

Years later, what was left of Svunnetland fell, and the families where once more to decide what realm they would become a part of, the Grandalls decided on Arcaea, but the Astlars refused to join their long-time rival realm. It was at this time that the Grandall and Astlar families could not decide who would adopt the young couple. The Astlars argued that the woman should move in with her husband, while the Grandall said the Astlars where too poor to take care of their daughter, who had been until then "cared for like a princess".

One Year Running:

In the midst of arguments the heads of the two families decided to divorce the couple, which had now adapted to each other. When Elizur noticed that Neriah and him would be separated, he asked her to "run away" with her, she agreed. And so they did, running away without anyone knowing raised a lot of suspicion from both families. Their run-away led to a feud between the Astlars and Grandall families, whom started fighting against each other with all their might. The Astlars with their skilled knowledge of warfare and the Grandalls with hired mercenaries. At the same time, both families sent out people to hunt down the run-away couple, for they believed if they killed either one, the other would return. The Astlars thought Elizur had been seduced by Neriah to run away, and the Grandalls blamed Elizur for kidnapping their "princess". Being chased by the personal guard of the Astlar's and hired blades from the Grandall family, the couple was running out of options. Elizur's skills were tested as he had to constantly fight their pursuers off, and Neriah learned how to heal wounds and utilize what little they had to survive.

8 Years in Norland:

One day, Elizur is severely wounded after a harsh fight against his pursuers, he did manage to kill the few, but looked grave. That is when the couple decided to leave the Far East once and for all. After spending a few months hiding in the wilderness, Elizur recovered, and the couple used what gold they had left to board a ship to Atamara. Once in Atamara, the couple traveled to Norland, it seemed a worthy place because it was in the midst of a war, and they needed all the help they could get. Elizur saw this as a good way to put his skills in use and produce enough gold to build up a family with his wife. There they looked for a way to prove they where nobles, but had no success. The Norlanders where only concerned with war, and had no records of the history of the other islands. This forced Elizur to work as a simply soldier, and Neriah as a healer to his unit. They served a Knight named Wulford Wolff, who became friends with Elizur after witnessing his skills. Wulford was unhappy in Norland however, so he decided to leave all behind and head to Eston, including his unit. He was not about to leave his friend without hope though, so he gave them 50 gold coins and some good advice. He told the couple to take a boat to Dwilight, where his cousin Kratos Wolff lived, and ask him for guidance.

Peace in Caerwyn:

They then left towards D'Hara, Dwilight, where Kratos Wolff served as a Knight. Once they arrived, they where quickly pointed in the right direction, for Kratos Wolff had just been involved in the "Sallowtown Crusades" and had received praise for his bravery. When Kratos learned of Elizur and Neriah, he quickly welcomed them to his estate, for they had come in the name of his cousins from Atamara. Once he listened to their story, Kratos quickly realized what they must do. "You must seek an enlightened realm, in which you may find some records of your noble background, with such proof nobody will doubt your noble blood, and by witnessing your skills, Elizur, they will no doubt want you as a Knight. Your choice should be Caerwyn, you can take a boat to Golden Farrow with ease, and there you will find what you need." Taking heed of Kratos' word, the couple embarked towards Caerwyn. There they indeed proved their noble blood and where registered as part of the nobility. Fearing that their families would try to pursue them still, the couple decided to change their family name and start on a clean slate in their newly found home. And so the Azriel family emerged, in Shuberstone, Caerwyn. At this time Elizur was 40 and Neriah was 37, they had 3 boys. Abdiel, Kraft, and Tyrus.
