Surrounded!!
"The sleeping Beauty"

Good day! Before we start the political analysis that will follow, please spare some of your valuable time to have a look at the map of East Continent, which is really worth it. Now, bring in your mind the official diplomatic relations between the realms of this Continent and focus mainly on the alliances that are shaped. What do you see? If you have not found it yet, then allow me to point out to you some interesting facts.

Let us begin with the North and then speak for the South. Not that there is any particular reason for the priority given to the North in my article, but since I must start from somewhere, I have decided to begin from those realms who have eliminated most of their enemies and grabbed their lands. In the North, we see an Alliance between Old Rancagua, Sirion and Fontan. For the sake of easier reference to the specific alliance, in my article I have decided to name the alliance as the Northern Alliance.

Now, lower your eyes to the map and focus to the South. There, we can clearly see a powerful Federation being formed, consisted of the glorious realms of Itorunt, Ibladesh and Yssaria. For the sake of easier reference in the article, I will refer to them as the Southern Alliance of the analysis. Does this remind you of anything?

The Northern Alliance has already conquered the northern half of the Continent and keeps expanding, while the Southern Alliance still struggles to dominate in the southern half with their only obstacle being the once mighty Kingdom of Perdan. The two Alliances of the Superpowers, as I like to refer to them, have decided to split East Continent in two parts and each side claim their shares by grabbing the land, while leaving everyone else in ignorance and full of questions. A reasonable question from all these would be: where is the Middle in all these?

It is fact that the Middle is at great disarray at the moment and that the realms belonging to this fraction are acting individually without any coherent plan on matters where common policy is advised. The Northern and the Southern Alliances are taking advantage of the middle realms' idleness and lack of organization and they are exploiting the opportunity that is given to them as a result of the mentioned situation. As long as that the situation remains as it is, there is no way of the sleeping beauty awakening and thus no fears of unification and cooperation of the middle realms (Middle Alliance). Both of the existing Alliances are well aware of the fact that if a third Alliance would be formed, then they would have a very difficult time to fulfill their dreams, since the crippled realms that they are currently directly or indirectly fighting against, would be transformed to a very considerable enemy that might balance things around and bring the upside down.

Ubent, Caligus, Light of Fountain, Perdan, Kalmar Islands and Avamar Selective are all of them either crippled or too weak realms to constitute any real threat to the Superpowers' dream and as long as they are divided, this will never happen. Unfortunately, all of these realms lack something important that would make the change and that is the leadership that is required for proper communication and good cooperation between them, in order to make this possibility come true and confront what they currently fear of. For example, the once mighty Perdan by not being able to properly figure out what is going on and how have they, a once very powerful and feared realm, been transformed into a weak realm that does not deserve any respect and is being threatened by every part of the Kingdom, have proved to frequently take hasty and very bad decisions on crucial matters by not knowing which of the Alliances threatening their borders should they join, in order to better secure their People for the future.

The recent political actions of the Alliances and the War in the Islands, fortunately indicate that at least there is not any signed treaty between the Superpowers of East Continent regarding the split of the land, but rather it is a silent and very convincing agreement for both of them that the have mutually reached on, after distinctive and very cautious words exchanged between them on the diplomatic table. Of course, as it was expected since the Alliances move their borders closer and closer to each other, as time passes, more tension and inquietudes are being spotted in both parties of this behind the scenes agreements. The question that is raised and that I doubt if any of them have an answer to give, is what will happen after each one of them has taken their share of East Continent land. Are we going to experience a new larger scale War between the two Alliances or are we finally going to be witnesses of a state of Continental Peace?

The answer will depend on each alliance's share. If they are equal, then we may be lucky to live in Peace for years to come, but if it happens one of them to have conquered more than the other, you will agree with me that we shall experience a War that will never be forgotten and that will mark the Continental History books forever. The more powerful side will find an excuse, as always happens like that, and will strike the other one down for good. For the moment, the Northern Alliance seems to gain more and more power in this conflict of Influence against the Southern Alliance and they keep trying to expand in the Islands and gain Perdan with their side, something that would bring the borders of the North lower to the map of East Continent.

The North and the South keep fighting a War of Influence in East Continent.

My question is:
When will the sleeping Beauty finally awake from her stupor?

I will leave the conclusion of this tale to you, our readers.

The Triple Alliance Strikes Back
...and the Triple Rebellion fails

As every Citizen of EC is aware by now, the Triple Alliance that tortured the East Continent so much in the past, was reborn, partially because of boredom, partially because of the incompetency of Old Rancagua to win her war alone.

At the first week of December, forces of the Axis, attacked the Allies of the Islands. The second and third most powerful in military terms realms (Sirion and Fontan), joined the 5th stronger (Old Rancagua) which was unable to supress the valliant Islanders, although her army alone is twice the strength of the Allied defenders! As this wasn't enough their pleas to Perdan continues for an intervention. Will Perdan join the Axis in this conflict, smelling the potential death of an easy prey?

Despite the vast differences between the strength of the Axis and the Allies, the Islanders defended bravely their homes and inflicted tremendous casualties to the invaders. 45000 CS of the Axis was wasted while the Allies lost about 20000 CS. It will take ages for their armies to recover as the body count will be continued for long and the battles will be fought in every street of Kalmar City.

The Citizens of the Islands are terrorized, as it is well known that the Axis shows no mercy to the defeated opponents. The realms of Eleador, Avamar, Rancagua and Oligarch, all destroyed exactly in the same way by the Axis, indicate that nothing will stop or restraint the invaders until all locals have been exterminated. Regular looting by Sirion forces also contributes to the general feeling of fear.

This fear however, has multiplied the efforts of the Allies. As they know that they can't expect mercy from the brutal invaders, they are obliged to fight until the last man. And as it seems this war will last for long. Old Rancagua lacks the army to take over the Island, while Sirion and Fontan have already begun their travel back to their filthy holes.

Simultaneously a rebellion sparked in Old Rancagua but unfortunately with an insignificant impact to the war front. The rebels were soon wiped out. The shock came later though, as it was revealed that the rebels were planning a triple rebellion in Kalmar Islands and Avamar Selective as well. The Gods interfered once again and cleaned the Islands from the future rebels as they were using methods not accepted by the Deities of the World.

What remains to be seen now is if the rumours about another rebellion in Kalmar Islands and in Sirion by different rebel factions are true.

News From the Front Line
City of Kalmar, end November

Our journalist met General Amraedil outside the Military Quarters in the City of Kalmar. Always in his pink tights and wearing a -still blood-stained- yellow silken shirt with batwing sleeves, he kindly agreed to interrupt the training of his men and be interviewed for Avamar Times.

Avamar Times: Greetings General Amraedil and congratulations for pushing away the barbaric hordes of the invaders.

Amraedil: Don’t congratulate me. Congratulate every man, woman and child that defended this Island.

A.T: Anyway… Will you tell us few words about the current status of the Island?

A: The rebuilding procedure of the Island is going just fine! Much faster than I expected and certainly much faster than Old Ranacgua and Sirion hoped for!

A.T: What do you mean? Their newspapers are triumphant about their brilliant victory!

A: Victory? Don’t make me laugh! We didn't only manage to stop them, we didn't only manage to rebuild what they destroyed within few days only, we didn't only inflicted them twice casualties than we suffered but we are also ready to take the initiative now!

A.T: That’s impressive! Their army hasn’t even return to their capital and you are already speaking about initiatives in this war! How did you manage this?

A: What can I say? This realm is a miracle! Just grab any history book! It is written there that Avamar is based on her skilful Troop Leaders willingness to do whatever possible for the realm! This is how we made it. Devotion, joint efforts, love for our freedom and our lands. And allow me to say, that I am certain, no matter what the Old Rancaguan and Sirionite newspapers are saying, most citizens from these realms have realised that Avamar Selective has gained valuable prestige points in this conflict, while Old Ranacgua looks more and more inefficient and foolish as a realm... They have realised that this war can’t be won, unless they sell again their independence to major powers and resurrect from the dead, the axis of the past, that one mastered the whole continent.

A.T: Why do say that?

A: They are fighting against the Island Realms for almost 6 months now and they are in worst position than in the beginning of the conflict! At least in terms of balance of power. The Islands 6 months ago were almost deserted without any RCs or infrastrcture and with an insignificant army. Now we are in better position than ever! OR brought Sirion and will ask without a doubt for the support of more realms, as they are incapable of winning even together with their protector. Let them come! Will be ready!

A.T: When the Islanders expect the next invasion?

A: Most propably their completely incompetent and worthless General (I thank all the Gods of East Continent for the persistence of Dekion to keep him in charge of the army)won't be ready to return before January. Of course this is not something to rely on. Next time the enemies will move against us they will have well over 30k CS. So we must use the next month to muster a very well organised defensive army and of course raid Old Rancaguan regions occasionally. The gold they took from us, will be taken back with interest! Of course we won’t follow the same brutal methods of killing innocent peasants in the process. We have a certain level of culture in the Islands and if we don’t manage to maintain it then we have lost the war!

A.T: Congratulations again General! I deeply thank you and wish you every success in the future!

A: Don’t thank me, thank the People of Avamar. Without them we wouldn’t be here talking peacefully and without worries!
