BREAKING NEWS: Redspan Takes The Brunt

An allied invasion force has entered territory claimed by Redspan. Updates will be given as we are able.

BREAKING NEWS: Abington Defeated in Meldeen

Abington forces attempting to force Taran and Cagilan Empire out of the recently seized territory of Meldeen were handily repulsed today. The outcome of the battle was hardly ever in doubt as an undersize force made up of Abingtonian and allied Redspan troops faced a Taran and Cagilan Empire force nearing twice its size. Redspanian troops leaders Mother and An'ton were captured during the battle as was Derek of Abington. Tara and Cagilan Empire have obviously seized the initiative in the first battles of this war.

BREAKING NEWS: Cagilan Empire Declares War on Abington and Redspan!

The Cagilan Empire has today declared war on Abington and Redspan. This is a continuation of the diplomatic crisis originally set off by the missent note indicating planning by Carelia, Redspan, and Abington to take over Tara. It may also have something to do with the assassination effort made against a visiting CE official here in ASI during the height of the ASI/Abington War a few weeks ago. Since these events the level of trust for Abington and its leaders has reached a low water mark.

What these events mean for Abington, currently the most powerful realm on Atamara, we do not know. Its ally Redspan is the most affected as it is on the front-line of the war and is already at war with Ash Sea Islands on its other flank. A war with no apparent end in sight since Redspan has played hardball in diplomatic negotiations at the apparent urging of Abington. If the upcoming war is as fierce as it's opponents are large then Redspan may find itself the meal that the two titans end up fighting over.

BREAKING NEWS: ASI/Redspan/Abington Talks Failing

Word has come in that diplomatic talks to end the conflict between ASI and Redspan are failing and that Abington is getting involved in the process. The Redspan side has been unwilling to budge for some time and talks may have reached the breaking point. Sources in ASI indicate that the ball is apparently in Abington's court and that their actions will determine future events. It is common knowledge on the street in ASI that the outcome of a confrontation with two realms with the size and wealth of Abington and Redspan is uncertain to say the least. But sentiment in ASI is such that when it comes to honor and independence versus dishonor and slavery one must sometimes take the hard road and sell themselves dearly on the battlefield. A continent dominated by Abington may be in the future for all realms and not just ASI in any event.

Gala Held at Barnlure

A massive party was held at the country home of Wallace, Count of Barnlure and rightful Duke of Ash'rily. Mapan ale was imported in large quantities and distributed gratis by imported Mapan serving girls courtesy of Malice the High Marshal of Ash Sea Islands, Baron of Mapo. The gala was attended by most of the troop leaders and nobles of the islands and extended well into the night with numerous games of "Pin the Tail on the Goat" and rude songs. After midnight word began to spread of Tara's declaration of war against Redspan and a cheer was raised. Damage estimates have not yet been reported.

Diplomatic Notes

ASI and Talerium have ended hostilities and returned relations to neutrality. Though neither realm calls the other friend, both have pressing interests elsewhere to attend to. ASI and Abington have both honored the cease-fire on the islands but discussions on other matters are rumored to be moving slowly with little trust manifested. King and Council have been very active sending feelers to various realms to determine the ever-changing diplomatic landscape and hopes that ASI and some of these realms can cooperate on various matters.

Meldeen Taken by Tara

A large force from Tara, bolstered by Darka, marched into the territory of Meldeen and routed Redspanian troops there. After Meldeen was secured Tara annexed the region for its own.

Editorial When word came in today of Tara's declaration of war, one ASI noble was heard to say "I am very happy to see more realms standing up to evil." Tara today has stood up to the powermongers. It would have been easier for Tara to ignore the brewing threat. To flinch. But they did not. This newspaper wishes Tara well in upholding its honor.
