Anti Instantaneous Message Petition

From BattleMaster Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Tom is thinking of making messages sent in-game no longer arrive instantly, but delayed depending on how far away the recipient is. Many of us feel this would put an end to masses of Turn Junkies out there and make this game somewhat lightweight once again.

We welcome the proposal and look forward to the interesting in game situations that the changes will bring. If you too support this cause, please sign below and feel free to give a reason for your support if you wish.

Reason

  • Besides the obvious abuse IMs propose (I don't use them and I'm willing to suffer for my principals vs powergaming weiners abusing them) in this, I say let it happen! It makes for some great RP possibilities and forces us to dutchy marshals and field commanders as they should be, in the field! Combine it with the new 'oath of liege' thing being tested and you have yourself some interesting strategy. Say no to stagnation, yes to change! - Balewind
    • I think you may be misunderstanding somewhat: this is not in regard to out-of-game communication through instant messaging services, but rather the instantaneous nature of messages sent in-game. -- Anaris 00:59, 15 May 2006 (CEST)
      • Wow, that's an old petition... If you introduce delays into the messaging system, you'll just push the "turn junkies" into real IM systems and into IRC rooms, and make things even worse by giving the munchkins and power-gamers an even bigger advantage over those of us who actually have to work for a living. Just my two cents. -GoldPanda 20:38, 19 March 2008 (CET)
