Unit Behavior

Murderous- This is a behavioral command that I will never ask to be used except in the most dire of circumstance. This causes your unit to attack anyone from another realm, even allies, possibly dragging in everybody else from our realm in that region into the battle. Probably only used by traitorous backstabbing realms.

Aggressive- This causes your men to attack neutral realms and nobles from realms at peace who are evading. During a battle, your men will advance to attack the enemy as soon as possible. Mainly used for infantry and cavalry, and depending on whether a special forces unit is ranged or not.

Normal- Your men will usually only attack those at war with your realm. In battle, your men will advance at a normal pace.

Defensive- Your men will hold their position IF there are fortifications, but if there aren't any, your men will advance just as if you had normal settings. If you want to be the defensive side of the battle, use these settings.

Evasive- Use these settings if you are trying to avoid battle with enemy forces. However, realms at peace will try to attack you if their units are set to aggressive.

On to unit designations. These enhance some aspect of your unit.

Regular Army- The most common one used. Has balanced Offensive and Defensive strengths.

Sentry- This is a defensive setting, it will increase your unit's combat strength if you are staying in a region for multiple turns. You have to pay 20% more for your unit upkeep though.

Vanguard- Increases the speed at which your unit travels through regions. You have to pay 20% more for unit upkeep though.

Mercenary- Normally units lose morale when away from their home realm. However, using this, your men will only fight for pay and could care less how far away from home they are. You will have to pay 50% more in upkeep, however.

Police- Useful when you are trying to bring a region under control or catch an infiltrator as it allows you to patrol the region. However, your unit will not be equipped for combat and thus will suffer in morale and combat strength while in battle.

Unit Formation

Line- Balanced offensive and defensive formation.

Box- Defensive formation, this decreases the amount of casualties from close combat your unit receives, but decreases attack strength and increases the number of casualties you receive from archer fire.

Wedge- Offensive formation, this increases unit melee attack strength, but increases the amount of casualties taken in melee as well.

Skirmish- Decreases the amount of casualties taken by archer fire, decreased strength and defence in close combat however.
