Alf Storm is a 17 year old boy, living in London. One day he is rummaging around the papers of his deceased father, Rod Storm. He finds a book, "Chronicles of Norland," that describes the adventures of Raud Storm and the rest of the Storm family in another world. He keeps reading and falls asleep, waking up in the city of Makar in the world of Battlemaster.
