| A Duke's Resignation
Your Majesty, Peers of the Realm, These recent developments within the heart of political power in Our Kingdom have given me much food for the mind over the past few days. To see several proud, experienced, and esteemed members of our Realm put themselves forwards so willingly in service to Her Majesty and each of us as nobles of Perdan fills me with great optimism in these times of disconcerting quiet. I am not one to submit willingly to common or quasi-magical superstitions, but I fear a storm may be brewing that shall wreak mighty change in the future. We must, as ever, be prepared entirely for any eventualities. We must, as ever, have the best of us in the most suitable positions to ensure we are at our strongest in the face of adversity. As such, I am spurred to act upon a musing that has been in my mind for some time now and has grown far greater than I thought, and indeed perhaps hoped, that it ever would. I fear I no longer meet the requirements of being the best amongst our nobility to satisfy the role of the Duke of the Grand Court. My letters have become fewer and further between as my attention is leeched by the doldrum bureaucracy of the position of Duke which I carry out and it has truly taken its toll. To continue my service to Her Majesty, The Crown, and The Kingdom of Perdan, as best as I am able, I must fulfil alternative duties within our grand halls and perhaps further abroad in the name of the realm. These recent developments have confirmed for me that there is no shortage of great and upcoming individuals to fulfil my place at the table of the great Dukes of the realm. It is thus my duty to facilitate my own replacement with one of the fresher generation to see the Duchy of the Grand Court forge further and contribute more for the security of the realm. For now, to ensure continued safe and prosperous administration of the Golden City, I intend to remain its Margrave. Your Majesty, I bid you your ever-becoming wisdom in appointing an appropriate replacement. I believe with the new appointment of Duke Vidran Konran - an excellent choice, I may add - to the Riverlands and Greater Oligarch, perhaps one of your alternative candidates would serve our westerly hinterlands well.
