Show Preview

Please try to use show preview before saving your edits. --Vita Family 07:17, 4 January 2009 (CET)

Why? Is there some sort of edit-limit I am not aware of? The quality of the final product has no bearing on the number of edits to the page. And it is the final product that 95% of users will see. --J.Roberts 15:36, 4 January 2009 (CET)
Multiple edits of the same page fill up logs like recent changes - it's considered more polite to use the preview button rather than edit the same page multiple times, especially is there is no new content. --The1exile 15:47, 4 January 2009 (CET)
Except that they don't. Pulling directly from recent changes:
  • 17:32 Atamara/Nazia (5 changes; Page history) [J.Roberts (5×)]
Before I made the 5th edit, it looked like:
  • 17:32 Atamara/Nazia (4 changes; Page history) [J.Roberts (4×)]
Changing from "4x" to "5x" doesn't really fill a log, I would assume. Ultimately, my snarky "why" response up above was in lieu of a rant about how it's fairly impolite to chastise someone's editing habits, when the quality of your wiki depends on those edits being made in the first place. --J.Roberts 16:00, 4 January 2009 (CET)
But changing from 1x to 5x over a short period of time(mainly your first two and last two edits) does clutter up the recent changes page. It is nice for others to see what has been changed in fewer edits rather than more. I fully support your editing because it adds more flavor and history to the wiki, something I will always support. --Vita Family 16:56, 4 January 2009 (CET)
Recent changes does not become clogged because of your "4x" display, but because of the standard view, as viewed here: http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u245/The1exile/recentchanges.jpg

Now, we can't make you change your editing habits if you intend to spite us, but we can at least try to convince you that it's simply nicer to do it this way and to try and augment your wiki editing skills with the show preview function. And it's nice to be nice. I also don't think Ethan was trying to chastise you, as he was simply asking (he did not, for example, use the mildly obnoxious template with the red ring around the show preview button). So again - please? Does it really put you to any inconvenience? --The1exile 00:23, 6 January 2009 (CET)
Hey, I like my mildly obnoxious template! :) --Indirik 04:49, 6 January 2009 (CET)
