Edit Summaries

When you edit just a single section of a page, using either the little (edit) link, or using the right-click on the section header (you have to edit your preferences to enable that), the wiki auto-fills the summary with the following: /* [section title] */. That causes the summary to have the arrow and light-gray text, then what you add yourself after that is in a normal font. --Indirik 22:57, 23 September 2008 (CEST)

New Project

I have a little project I'm thinking about regarding some parts of East Dwilight. Since you have written material about Prince Sallow and the Arexi dynasty, I would like to gain a few more details about the regions and the history, as well as notables of the desert. I'm going to be writing a wuxia-inspired set of stories about the "legends" that occurred in the regions of the midlands in East Dwilight, and since you have some pretty good writings, I wonder if you might be able and willing to provide some setting for the Sallowtown regions. As for the time period, I was thinking that it might help to make a hypothetical timeline of events in historical Dwilight, not as an actual timeline, but as a means to be consistent with the story elements. The story itself might not be true or entirely true, which I would say is similar to our real-life legends, however I do believe that it should be at least fun to read. That sounds like a great idea. I did not want to iron down a prehistory timeline myself for two reasons. One because I did not want to make a timeline that would remove the possibility of having others contribute to it, and two because having a timeline would detract from the aura of myth and legend that surrounds these texts. If we are going to turn it into a particular project though then I am all for it. If it is collaborative then it is worth it, and others can start filling it in too. The reason for a localized timeline is to provide some framework for consistency in the story (we wouldn't want, say, Prince Sallow and Curshixa the Gallant and say, Siegfried von Beermeister, all milling about in the same timeframe of the story when in fact they didn't live in the same time periods. At least I believe Sallow the person was a bit later than the first Curshixa. I feel as though the Arexi dynasty occurred during the peaceful time in Flowrestown, where it would kind of make sense that the mountaineers were occupied with the guys from the west, And Siegfried von Beermeister is just some made up name as a German-inspired person of the Unterlands.) and still allow enough breadth for freedom of having a larger contribution. However, judging by realistic differences in distance, I would think that the major contributions would come from the group of regions that surround the focus in Balance's Retreat, going north up to Caiyun but no further west in the northern reaches than Eisenik, and extending south to perhaps even Askileon. We'll see who contributes, as I'm first trying to get existing info, and the Sallowsite currently has a great deal. --Qmasterflex86 17:38, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

DD Ticker Items

When writing ticker stories for the Dwilight Daily, please try to keep them to the simple statements of who took what: "D' Hara captures Sallowtown", etc. Any kind of embellishment/flavor can be done in the main article space, like you did with the Crusade for Sallowtown article. Also, please use standard dates for articles. While the idea of using other dates is interesting, it really won't match the large store of existing articles, nor will it be possible to use non-standard dates with the semantic data system.
