The Way of the Dragon/Sermons
On Dragons
Noting the arrival of a priest in the city, curious peasants gathered around Melehan and his retinue. They had never heard of the Way of the Dragon before, and the novelty of his foreign mannerisms attracted them towards him.
Before long, Melehan had begun delivering his first sermon in the south, speaking of the Way and the importance of adhering to the seven prime virtues. He spoke of Shinya, and his ascension to the celestial temple. He spoke of dedication and honor, and he spoke of the glorious quests the dragon warriors had undertaken as a test of their worthiness. Thus he spoke for hours to an audience that seemed only to grow, as word of the sermon spread.
As Melehan began answereing questions from the assembled crowd, a small, but eager boy piped up-
- Why do you call your path the Way of the Dragon?
Melehan chuckled. He'd been asked questions before in the past, yet never one like this. He pointed towards the north.
You see there where I point, boy? Far away to the north, in Sasrhas, we did sight a dragon some months ago, the day I did found the Way. Before this, there were always rumors that they had made their home on the Dark Isle, yet those rumors were never substantiated.
As I did mention earlier, the gods live on a higher plane, which we know only as the celestial temple, where they hunt, feast and engage in honorable combat. Yet, they may visit our lands when they deem it fit. When they do so, they come to us in the form of mighty dragons. There are a vast number of them, chief amongst whom is the Lawgiver... They embody the seven prime virtues of the Way. Thus we honor them in following the path, and in our dedication to the seven primes, earn our place besides them after a good death.

Melehan requested water from Aeneas. "Excellent, I began to believe I was the only one who rather not clouded his mind with the alcohol, very well. Please follow me towards the inner chamber" Aeneas said, "There is much to discuss indeed. We can do so in private."

Nodding his thanks and taking a seat at the table, Melehan sipped the water lightly as he pondered his response to Aeneas, essaying to gauge the intent behind the question.
