Military Orders in Sanguis Astroism

The Military Orders are organizations that are both secular and religious in nature, consisting of knights and priests who have taken an oath to fulfill an Order’s purpose. They may be created to serve any purpose, contingent on approval from the Regent.

Depending upon their purpose, each is overseen by one of the Lights, chosen by the Regent when the Order is created. The Light in question does not necessarily have to be a member of the Order, or an Elder of the Order, but the Order is bound to obey the Light’s orders if orders are given. All Orders are subject to the command of the Regent.

Creating a Military Order

To found a Military Order, the supplicant must meet certain criteria before an application will be approved. Upon receipt of the application, the Regent will determine whether the Order has a suitable purpose. If he gives his approval, the supplicant may create the proposed Military Order with the blessing of the church. The Regent will then determine which Light will oversee the new Order depending upon its purpose

Purpose

The supplicant must provide the Elders with a charter that lays out the proposed purpose of the new Military Order (OOC: preferably in the form of a wiki page). If appropriate, an oath should be created that binds prospective brothers and sisters to this purpose.

Viability

The supplicant must be able to name at least five knights who agree with the purpose of the Order and are willing to form its founding membership. These nobles will be contacted to ascertain their agreement.

Benefactor

The supplicant must have the wherewithal to actually build the Order’s first guild house. If the supplicant is not himself or herself a lord, he or she must provide the name of the lord who will be the Order’s initial benefactor, who will be contacted to ascertain his or her agreement.

Existing Military Orders

The Warders of the Temple: This Order is sworn to the defense of temples and priests and has several times been mobilized to defend the faith. It is overseen by Light of the Maddening Allison Kabrinski.
