The Rider family is originally from Strahan, a rural region of farmland in the western part of the Cagilan Empire.

Famine
The first of the family to aspire to political appointment, Famine became the Earl of Esgalons, then part of the Calis Duchy. He loyally served Duke Pikku for many months, with the Duke funding an ambitious mentoring program which pulled green knights into Esgalons to be formed into functional troop leaders.
As part of a region-swapping deal, Easgalons was to be given to the Nida duchy, for that city had no regions of its own. The Dukes and Duchess agreed on the swap, which was also to include Strahan moving to the Calis Duchy. At that time, Marquess Geoffery of Strahan was called away to deal with estate issues in the Far East, leaving Strahan without a lord.
Jumping at the chance to remain in the service of Duke Pikku, as well as to become lord of his ancestral home, Famine petitioned the Senate to become Marquess of Strahan. With the Senate vote clearly in favor of this move, Famine switched the Loyalty of Esgalons to the Duchy of Nida, and was elected Marquess of Strahan the next day. He then switched the allegiance of Strahan to the Calis Duchy, completing two of the three region swapped among the Duchy.
With four knights already sworn to Strahan, and a major war against Falasan ongoing, the Marquis has abandoned the Mentoring system previously set up, where he would take any new knight in. For now, it rests, as the funds that the Duke was previously providing are instead directed towards the war effort.
Windborne
Windborne Rider refused to go into politics with her brother in a dominant position, so she accepted an assignment to Carelia. There she was immediately sent to war, in the conflict against Red Span.
Johanson
Johanson is the half-brother of Marquis Famine, and began a life of adventure in Lukon. He received acolytes and recommendations from King Valast, and was one of the prime adventurers in the Realm. However, on a brief trip south to search for magical items, he was imprisoned and executed by Justicar Denarien.
