The Rider family is originally from Strahan, a rural region of farmland in the western part of the Cagilan Empire.

Famine

The first of the family to aspire to political appointment, Famine became the Earl of Esgalons, then part of the Calis Duchy. He loyally served Duke Pikku for many months, with the Duke funding an ambitious mentoring program which pulled green knights into Esgalons to be formed into functional troop leaders.

As part of a region-swapping deal, Easgalons was to be given to the Nida duchy, for that city had no regions of its own. The Dukes and Duchess agreed on the swap, which was also to include Strahan moving to the Calis Duchy. At that time, Marquess Geoffery of Strahan was called away to deal with estate issues in the Far East, leaving Strahan without a lord.

Jumping at the chance to remain in the service of Duke Pikku, as well as to become lord of his ancestral home, Famine petitioned the Senate to become Marquess of Strahan. With the Senate vote clearly in favor of this move, Famine switched the Loyalty of Esgalons to the Duchy of Nida, and was elected Marquess of Strahan the next day. He then switched the allegiance of Strahan to the Calis Duchy, completing two of the three region swapped among the Duchy.

With four knights already sworn to Strahan, and a major war against Falasan ongoing, the Marquis has abandoned the Mentoring system previously set up, where he would take any new knight in. For now, it rests, as the funds that the Duke was previously providing are instead directed towards the war effort.

Windborne

Windborne Rider refused to go into politics with her brother in a dominant position, so she accepted an assignment to Carelia. There she was immediately sent to war, in the conflict against RedSpan. In the first wave, their forces were decimated. Orders were given too early, then rescinded too late.

After a refit, they once again went out, and swiftly took over three regions. By the time the third had been taken, the first had gone rogue, and the army went back to it. After they arrived to re-take-over the first, the second went rogue, and they immediately left to recapture it. As this was happening, the third went rogue, and Windborne immediately turned her troops around and marched for the sensibility of the Cagilan Empire.

After a week of hard marching, her gold gone and her men nearly broken, they arrived in the city of Skalk. She petitioned Duke Dakkon Blackblade to take her on as a knight, and restore her as a noble of the Cagilan Empire. He graciously did so, although unable to provide her with a share of the tax. Able to cash her bonds, Windborne reassimilated into life in the CE, and found a home in Woodglen.

As tribute to her savior, she requested and was assigned to the Est Sularus oth Mithas, the Duke's army, even though Woodglen was not in that Duchy. Her first command was to move with the army north, in an attempt to pressure Falasan to accept a treaty. Moving into Nazgorn, arrows were loosed, and a massive battle was fought. Her unit of archers slaughtered to the last man, she fired one last bloody arrow over the palisade walls, and swore vengeance.

Recruiting infantry, Windborne fought several more loosing battles against Falasan, growing more angry every time. After an angry exchange with a priest of The Word, she swore off any contact with "snake-tongued priests" and instead tokenly worships the ancestral and nature spirits.

With ever-lasting hatred towards Falasan, Windborne joined the Colony group, dedicated to carving a new realm out of Falasan's Barad Falas Duchy. It will one day become the realm of Coria, but for the moment is but a dream of a few dozen individuals.

After the region of Nazgorn was taken by the CE, Merlin Silverfire was installed as its lord. Seeking to be part of a realm carved from Falasan's corpse, Windborne swore an oath to the region. As Merlin was the marshal of the Pax Cagila, she was assigned to that army. The region was in poor shape, and was lost more than once in the next few months. After the final loss, Windborne was out of a home, and swore an oath to a poor region back in the main part of the CE.

When the region of Nazia was to be taken, she petitioned the Colony group and the Imperial Senate to be made lord of it. At the end of December, 2008, she was made Viscountess of the newly acquired region of Nazia. The region has been rogue for some time, and is in very poor shape. However, she is determined to make it the first region of the realm of Coria.

For any less Falasan than exists currently is a good thing.

Johanson

Johanson is the half-brother of Marquis Famine, and began a life of adventure in Lukon. He received acolytes and recommendations from King Valast, and was one of the prime adventurers in the Realm. However, on a brief trip south to search for magical items, he was imprisoned and executed by Justicar Denarien.

Adest

Adest is another half-brother, and is also an adventurer. He has started his career adventuring in Springdale, on Dwilight. There he worked tirelessly for Emperor Neel Arya, delivering him two magical items, including the Black Sword of Destruction and the Breastplate of the Foolish. He repaired Sir Rohk Darksun's Brilliant Armour, and worked hard for the Empire.

Adest is searching for his father's grave. One of two children, Adest has learned that the other (of another mother) died of the plague, leaving the family's title and crest without an heir. The Heralds tell him that he must have proof of his father to assume the family title, so he is in search of it.

He now knows that his father is buried in White Plains, but has been driven from the region due to the wars with Virovene and Morek. He was imprisoned by Morek, and a Virovene infiltrator nearly killed him in an attack. Until the war is over, Adest has fled to the rogue region of Valkyrja.
