Poitiers is a rural province located on the western coast of the East Island, to the west of the city of Westmor.

Description

Maintaining one of the most expansive coastlines in the northern reaches, the people of Poitiers have a long, proud tradition of raising some of the finest mainland seafarers and fishermen. Its village markets teem with vendors selling fresh fish while local traders offer fresh, salted, and dried fish to the cities of Westmoor, Perdan, and even distant Oligarch.

Inland, Poitiers is blessed with rich, fertile rolling hills and seemingly endless plains. In these hills, many freemen and indentured farmers grow essential crops, such as wheat, barley, and oats. Many of these crops are then sent to the great riverside mills of Troyes for grinding into flour and meal.

The regional seat of government is the large village of Drakkon, which houses the Dragon Tower where the Counts of Poitiers (and in ancient times, the Kings) hold court. It is also where the majority of warehouses and training camps are located. Unlike most villages in the region, Drakkon is unique. In truth, it is a half buried fortress, walls long since crumbled and overgrown. The homes and shops that line its streets are thick stone, no matter if the old buildings were once simple barracks or are the ruins of a toppled tower. It is unknown when Drakkon was first settled or by whom.
