The Old Mace of Betrayal is a blackened steel construct that almost radiates a desire to smash and rend. It was found by the adventurer Brooklyn, and purchased by Jenred Bedwyr, King of Arcaea. The King took it to the temple to the Aenil in Talex, and after some consultation with the priests there, discovered references to a weapon that might be the Mace, forged in the ancient days with the blood of a man betrayed by his best friend to his doom. Since then, the Mace has sought to end the life of those who have betrayed others.
