The following are the governing Laws of the Kingdom of Minas Ithil

Trials

Any Ithilian noble can accuse a fellow of a crime and ask the Justiciar to open a trial. Once the details have been presented the Justiciar will decide whether or not to open a trial. If a trial is started, everybody has the allotted time (as listed below) to speak their view of the case. When the trial is concluded, the Justiciar will reach a decision. In cases of flagrant violations of the law, the Justiciar may elect to skip the trial and hand out punishment accordingly.

In times of War, Martial Law is in effect. The Field Marshal may request punishments of the Justiciar, who must hand them out as per instructions of the Field Marshal. No trials will be held for Military Crimes during periods of Martial Law.

Civil Law

All cases deemed civil disobedience will receive a trial of 24 hours (2 turns)

Civil law includes disobeying the orders of the King’s Council, improper behavior unbecoming of a noble, and causing dissension and insubordination as deemed by the Justiciar. Most cases will result in a fine, the amount decided on a case by case basis, and severe or repeated cases can result in banishment.

Military Crime

All nobles accused of a wartime crime will receive a trial of 24 hours (2 turns)

Military crimes include leaving the realm without the permission of the King’s Council (except to join a tournament), looting without orders to do so, dueling while the realm is at war without the permission of the King’s Council, failure to abide by issued line settings, and any other activities deemed by the Justiciar or member of the Council to be undermining the war effort. Punishment can result in heavy fine or banishment at the Justiciar’s discretion.

Treason

All nobles accused of treason will receive a trial of 24 hours (2 turns), except in certain cases as described below.

Treasonous actions include converting to an enemy realm during wartime, showing open support or sympathy for Minas Leon, bearing the family name De La Fere, spying or leaking information to another realm without permission, unsanctioned colonial or secessionist activity, conspiring to commit rebellion against the crown, and starting or being part of rebellion. (In most cases, leaders of rebellion will be sentenced without trial.)

All nobles found guilty of treason will be banished from the realm and executed if recaptured.

Looting

Nobles are allowed to loot only when their Marshal orders them. Sending men on killing sprees is ALWAYS prohibited.

Infiltrator Laws

The following regulations apply to all infiltrators in the employ of Minas Ithil: attacking allied nobles who lack bounties is always illegal. Attacking allied nobles with bounties may only be done with the permission of the King's council. No punishment will be meted out to an infiltrator who has successfully performed an operation and was not unidentified, unless the operation was against Minas Ithil.

Abuse of Power

Repeated abuse of power by any member of King's council can result in a trial (72 hours, 6 turns). If found guilty of such an act by the greater consensus of the Council, the guilty party will be stripped of their position. Failure to abide by this ruling will result in immediate prosecution under treason laws.

Religion

The following is Minas Ithil's policy on religious activities:

1. All foreign priests must obtain permission from one of the Council before preaching in MI lands.

2. No religion may be founded within MI lands without permission from a concensus of the Council or the King.

3. Under NO circumstances will the Way of the Hammer be granted preaching rights, the right to build shrines, or the right to build temples. Nobles found harboring these activities will be tried for treason.

4. All previously granted travel rights of foreign priests are automatically revoked upon the outbreak of war with their realm.

5. Any Lord may also refuse permission for religious activities within their own region.

6. The King reserves the right to refuse or revoke any permissions at his leisure.
