After getting his first experiences of combat in the waning days of the war against Eston, he decided that the best way to lead his troops was to treat them as equals. With that, he chose to become a hero and fight along-side his men, share experiences, and work together instead of leading from the rear like most.
However, he didn't stay in Minas Ithil for long. When the war against Abington came about and the colony of Kybcyell was created, he knew that he was needed to defend it and fight-off the Abington threat. Amazed by his enthusiasm and bravery, Chief Steward (King) Hottori appointed him as the High Marshall when Gregor was captured.
