Part 3: A Fantastic Tale

(Roleplay from Irdys Galeheart)

Irdys stood uncomfortably by as the silence had dragged on. Still ready to defend herself, or himself as far as the guards knew, if requiered. Still, the weapon master seemed pleased enough, that at least was a good sign, and he was most certainly a man who knew his blades if she was any judge.

And the question had been clear enough, hopefully the answer would be as clear and acceptable. What if they didn't believe the tale? Still, there was nothing for it but to hope...

Irdys quickly set off to telling her tale.

"I a found it Sir, in southern lands as you say, a small cave near the city of Zonasa. There was wargs plaguing the regions Sir, or some vile monsters at least, and I'd been hired to take care off them. Well, hired, as in they paid good money for any warg tales Sir.

There was a vile pack, hunted them for the better part of a day Sir, was dead tired but eventually tracked them across their corpses to their lair."

At that Irdys hesitated for a moment, judging the soldiers and weaponmaster. They seemed interested enough, still, better to be ready regardless. Continuing after a moments pause she quickly went on;

"Anyway, it was as there at their lair I found it Sir. There was the leader of their pack, I snuck up and ambushed them neat as can be. Shot arrows down at them from a cliff, felled a few with those, and finally fought and slew the vile warg beast in single combat. They'd been terrorizing the lands for a time and killed their share of people.

It was there in their den as said I found it Sir. Neat as can be in a hilt half rotten away, armor of some knight still there with rattling bones and all. Ruffed as can be like from that they ate him..."

Irdys swallowed for a moment at that, eyes flickering down to the blade then up to the armorsmith, before saying hesitantly;

"The blade is not for the likes of me to wield in combat Sir, or so I think. But I've been seen with it, and people have recognized the blade more so then me Sir." A soft laugh, the voice warm, almost womanly, followed at that. Before Irdys continued quickly in a gruff tone;

"But it's not for the likes of me as said Sir, and I can't a blame people they recognize the blade over me Sir."

Irdys stood a bit nervously now, eyeing the soldiers, eyeing the armorsmith. One of the soldiers seemed to have left at least, that was likely a good sign. They were not like to slay her while one of their comrades might inform others. Still, best to be wary, and best hope they believed the tale. It was the truth, but still, it sounded fantastic enough to ones own ears, and she'd been there...

The weapons-master smiled and nodded at the end of the tale, eyes fixed upon the blade.

"Fascinating... I wonder who this knight was... Anyway," he cleared his throat, "I asked whether you have used the blade in battle, not whether you have been seen carrying it. I wish to learn of its efficacy in dealing death."

He reached a hand slowly towards the hilt and looked at Irdys.

"May I?"
