Barracks at Remton

After parting ways with Lady Lyria, Xarnelf led his troops to the closest barracks. He soon found a suitable room for all of them to spend the night and perhaps the whole of the next day. Once the arrangements were set in order, the young knight motioned to his captain, Urjintah Feralgem, to join him outside for a brief discussion.

"Jint, keep an eye on the men for me, will you? I'm going to head out to explore the east side of the city. Hopefully I can find a tavern or two with amiable patrons who wouldn't mind sharing the latest gossip of the land at the price of a drink."

"Of course, my friend. Now, are you certain that you would not like for me to accompany you in case you get into any trouble or manage to clumsily hurt yourself yet again?" Captain Feralgem asked with a raised eyebrow.

Xarnelf pushed Urjintah playfully on the shoulder and retorted, "Oh get out of here." Just as he retracted his arm and took a small step backwards, he slipped on a pebble and stumbled a few paces to the left into the wall of the barracks. Coughing with embrassment, Xarnelf looked around quickly as his cheeks started to flush and straightened his tunic. "Err, yeah, I'll be fine."

The captain of the Farsighters grimaced slightly and then shook his head with a wry smirk. "Very well, if you say so, Sir Xarn-oaf."

The young knight moved to shove his friend from childhood again, but Urjintah dodged nimbly backwards through the open door with a salute. Smiling, Xarnelf placed his hands on his hips and let out a soft sigh. He called for one of his sergeants, who promptly stepped out.

"Please deliver these messages to any Arcaean noble you come across."

"Right away, sir!"

Xarnelf watched him trot off for a moment, and then, satisfied that he seemed to be going in the right direction, turned to take the street leading east.
