13.09.11 - Volkanita - Mud, Sweat, and Tears

"What did we do to deserve this place" panted one of the men wading through the thick mud. Almost up to his waist in a swamp of soft brown sickness. Running through and on top of the mud were patches of green that snaked through the irregulary growing jungle trees. Channeling the stench of the swamp, holding it as a mist all around you. From which there was no escape. The nobles and soldiers of Minas Thalion had already been at the Volkanita campaign for two weeks. Though the battle against the undead and monsters had been won in a day. With a Lord installed in the main settlement and caravans of food arriving to feed the people. The rest of the expansive region was mostly uncharted and unknown to the nobles and soldiers of Minas Thalion. The extended campaign was therefore to prevent the independant factions regaining control of the region, to spread order and security over the people who had been without any form of goverment for a very long time. But the campaign was severly difficult. Moving from village to village was almost impossible at times because of the murky swamps that rested silently everywhere. When the swmaps frequently flooded, rafts were a more appropriate method to find a way through the mists that lingered everywhere. Soldiers were frequently stopped by the mud, and some were even lost to its depths. Never to be seen again. If the campaign in Volkanita ever ends. If the relief is called, it will be joyus news as we crawl back to Alebad.

11.09.11 - New Duke - Where does your allegiance lie ?

Chatter instantly filled the room between the soldiers of the Screaming Crows as the messanger finished his short message. rumors and suspicions were answered in full. A new Senator of the city of Alebad would have to be found. Mero Chesvo was seriously ill and beyond any possible care the physicians could provide. For the first few days there was little thought given by the people of Alebad for not seeing their Senator. But as the week continued and a non appearance gave way to speculation about Mero's health. It was clear that it may only be a matter of days untill he would recover or not at all.

Boen stood before Valdrix Hendrix in the middle of the main hall of Alebad's inner keep. It was exactly midday and the bustling of merchants could be heard outside. Light shone in through the windows and illuminated the flagstones. Boen moved to kneel on one leg, clench his right hand and place it over his chest. Boen reconfirmed his oath of allegiance to Valdrix, the new Senator of the city of Alebad. Thereafter Boen was rewarded by Valdrix with an increased estate. Therefore Boen's responsibility to the city was greater than before and would simply not allow him to pursue greater power until the city was clear of the underfactions that were increasing their power daily.
