This was written while Raphael was captured and imprisoned by Monsters for the second time. He scratched it onto the wall with a piece of rat bone he acquired.

The God of Wine

I know a man who treats me well,

I may only meet him in one way,

When my soul is trapped in a cell,

I invite him to an evening soiree.

Is it right that I am aware of death,

Or that inside this skull I am alone,

Must I try to savour every breath,

Or is it better to have never known.

Each day burdens me with woe,

Each night I dread the cold,

There is a happiness that I know,

Gained only in his hold.

You know this man as well as I,

For we are just the same,

We beg him not to say good-bye,

As when he leaves we are to blame,

For the life spent in his worship.
