The Iltaran family hails from Bruck in the East Continent. Long simply one of many lesser noble families, the Iltarans have nonetheless given loyal service to the Counts of Bruck for many generations. Perhaps owing to the turmoil of the region in recent years, with control of Bruck passing from Oligarch to Fontan to Perdan to Westmoor, several of the younger scions of the family have left the home estate to serve various causes; notably the Kingdom of Old Grehk in Beluaterra. The Iltarans have a longstanding connection with the Tanos Family of Poiters. At present, Valdus Iltaran is the Head of the Family; however the success of his second son Askarn has complicated the situation.

Askarn Iltaran

The King and High Marshal of Old Grehk, Askarn Iltaran has achieved success far beyond the wildest dreams of his family. Were it not for for Valdus' middle son, scarce few would know the name Iltaran. A little more than a year younger than his elder brother Maedros and cousin Savra, he inevitably found himself the vassel in his elder relation's battle for childhood supremacy. Great things were not expected of Askarn who generally seemed content to be the follower. Some notice was taken of his skill with the blade, but in competitions he proved overaggressive and neglected his defences (this trait would continue into adult life.)

With Maedros already contentedly serving in the armies of Westmoor and Savra having disappeared to the untamed lands of Dwilight, Askarn was the only Iltaran of suitable age available to answer the call from their kinsmen, the Tanos, to send a Knight to Beluaterra. Dutifully he travelled to Perdan City and from there took a ship to the distant continent. During the journey he would first hear the wild tales of Beluaterra's past; wholescale invasions by unnatural beasts and the walking dead and hushed words of something far more powerful and dangerous.

Finally reaching the City of Ossmat, Askarn found his new homeland to be in the midst of a losing war with Fronen. A new Queen had just ascended to the throne and supporters of the losing candidate had betrayed Old Grehk, leaving the key city of Vozzessdor in enemy hands. Swearing an oath of service to the eccentric Countess Jilesponie of Kell, Askarn immediately raised a company of infantry and entered into the Army of Old Grehk. Pius Draco Tanos, the kinsman who had first sent the request for an Iltaran knight, served as Marshal of the army.

Maedros Iltaran

The eldest son of Valdus Iltaran, Maedros is the elder brother of Askarn and Faed Iltaran. Conservative and deeply stubborn, he entered the service of Duchess Evangeline Uceek as a Knight at age seventeen. Since then he has served in the Westmoore Tactical Force commanding the Iltaran Guard, a company of heavy infantry. After some initial skirmishs with the Monsters and Undead that occasionally trouble Westmoore Maedros marched with his army against the Elves of Sirion, attempting to storm the fortifications in Caqueta. Alongside soldiers from Fontan, Perdan and Asena he fought in the epic but disasterous Battle of Sermbar, suffering a light wound. Repeated heavy fighting led to the Iltaran Guard becoming a tough, veteran unit, while Maedros himself acquired considerable skill with the blade and as a commander.

During the retreat from an invasion of Sirion, Maedros joined a Fontanese assault on Trinbar. Elven reinforcements arrived just before the Westmoor-Fontan army. In the ensuring battle the allied force was bloodily repulsed and Maedros was captured. While he languished in the dungeons of Sirion, the survivors of the Iltaran Guard were hunted down. Upon his release, Maedros raised a new company, dubbing the comparitively green troops the II Iltaran Guard.

Savra Iltaran

Son of Halden Iltaran, Savra was born a few months after his cousin Maedros and the pair had a simmering rivalry through their childhood. Seeing little chance for advancement in Westmoor Savra instead travelled to the continent of Dwilight, where civilization was only slowly establishing itself. Arriving in the realm of Madina, Savra swore allegiance to Count Laithe and became a Knight of Paisland.
