Background

The son of Baroness Erisha Da Hadez and her secret husband Loris Malay; Ayden and his twin sister Brina were born in the Colonies but shortly after their mother's death were brought by their father to her homeland of Darka where they were raised and educated.

Ayden arrived, as yet nameless, as a newborn in Darka with a raging fever that lasted for weeks. The healers despaired of a cure and attributed his eventual recovery as a minor miracle. In honour of this first trial his father named him 'Ayden'; a name which means 'Litle Fire'.

While a diligent and modestly accomplished student of the martial arts Ayden was always a dreamer and idealist. He would spend all his spare moments reading historical sagas or collections of heroic poetry and beseeching his father for one more song, one more tale, one more riddle. Even more than his sister he thrived on stories of his mother's heroic achievements and encouraged his father to recount them endlessly.

At the age of seventeen Ayden left Darka to accompany his sister on a pilgrimage to their mother's adopted homeland of Oritolon.
