INTO GLORY RIDE!!

The Crownguard family originates from the Viking realm of Norland, in the region of Mansbridge on Atamara. A family not of noble birth, they received their name by supplying the kings of the North with personal men-at-arms for many generations. The family patron that started the family down the road to greatness was Hogni Crownguard. A true viking through and through. A man-at-arms, renown for his debauchery and absolutely devastating prowess in battle. However, at a very young age he was hobbled and was required to work the land to support his family. Hogni turned his battle prowess towards real estate, and took the poor Crownguard family from rags to riches in a few short years.

Three sons were begat by Hogni; Hrothgar, Sigurth and Thorar. The three sons became great fighting men of the North, and would go viking every season to shores abroad, further increasing the family's wealth. Until eventually, they were able to fund their way into Norland's nobility.

Hrothgar begat Derack, Dane, Garm and Magnus. Thorar begat Bergelmir. And Sigurth begat many peasants in Mansbridge as well as many other regions of the North. Rumor has it, he still is begatting.

Derack the Daring: Eldest son of the Crownguard Family, Prime Minister of Norland and conclave member of The Warrior Brotherhood of Atamara. Bears the mark of Odin the All-Father. And wields a mystical battleaxe of smiting.

Derack's career began rather quickly after he graduated from the academy in Brackhead. He quickly rose in Norland's military ranks. First as Marshal of Brackhead under General Raud Storm's command. During this time he was appointed to Baron of Jerkel, where he gained important knowledge on region maintenance and lordship. Which over time, led him to be appointed Lord of his family home, Mansbridge. Where he reigned for many years as Marquis. When Raud Storm retired from his General duties, Derack was the natural choice to lead Norland's military as the new Minister of Defense. By the end of the war with Eston, Derack hung his battleaxe and ended his military career to be appointed Duke of Belegrond. As Duke of the massive stronghold he acted as Norland's emissary to many realms and guilds. Strengthening the ties Norland had to its Northern Federation members, Eston and The Barony of Makar.

When the time came for Norland's ruler, Krypton the Bold to step down and retire to the Dukehood of Barad Riel, there was no question who would lead the realm. Derack won the election by a landslide, and has continued to walk in the great shoes the Lion of Norland, Krypton the Bold established for so many years.

Magnus the Mighty: Founder of The Warrior Brotherhood of Atamara, and wielder of the mystical hammer 'Ginstr' (Grinder). His patron is Thor.

Garm the Devourer: Brought back one too many times by his Aunt Cecilia, Garm is naught more than a slavering, gobbling wolf-beast. With virtually nothing left of his humanity, wretched as it was.

Dane the Furious: A man so driven by rage, he frequently disappears into the icy wilderness. His patron is Tyr, and he seeks righteous justice against all those foolish enough to be his enemy.

Kharebutu the Fourfold Fiend: When Aunt Cecilia attempted to bring her long lost husband, Hogni Crownguard back from the grave, Kharebutu came in his place. Hogni stated that coming back to her was a fate worse than the abyss. Kharebutu was a fiend heralding from the bottom of the abyss itself, and wielded a massive mattock. The magics eventually wore thin, and Kharebutu was drawn back to the Abyss.

Sigurd the Strong: Youngest of the Crownguard males, son of Dane the Furious, has walked away from his family's nobility in search of ale, women and adventure. His patron is Magni the Strong, son of Thor. Unnaturally strong, he wields any weapon he can get his hands on. Which more often than not, is nothing more than his bare hands.

Bergelmir the Fearless: is a large, hairy and burly man. His name literally translates from the ancient runes to "Mountain Roarer". He favors the axe, large quantities of mead and women with 'vast tracks of land'. He is searching for his cousin, Dane. He will not say why exactly, but as he searches he is also making amends for his cousin's fiery temper.
