Aestus

Aestus is a badlands region in the central area of the East Island. It is located south of the Akesh Mountains, directly south of the Akesh Temple.
Description
Sea winds blowing in from the coastlines of Supra and Aureus clash with cooler air coming off the Akesh mountains, resulting in heavy rainfall much of the year round. The result are the fens of Aestus; a wide expanse of marsh and wetlands. The entire region is a flat, largely featureless land of big skies and hard lives.
The people here are tough and stoic, weathered but unbeaten by the dreary landscape of their home.
The primary industry of the region is reed-cutting; the dried reeds make excellent baskets and wickerwork, or a more durable roof-thatching material than common straw.
