At high noon, in the middle of the main markets of Cteduul, a somewhat unkempt figure walked into the middle of the street. He was carrying a wooden box, which he tossed down in the street, and immediately hopped onto it. He lifted his arms, calling for the attention of the milling crowds.

"People of Cteduul! Lords and Ladies! Noble and Commoner alike! I bring you greetings! I am Danost Indirik, and I bring you wonders beyond belief. Look here and be amazed!"

Danost reached behind his back and pulled a long, wooden club from his pack. The club was made of a deeply polished, dark wood. Metal bands ringed the club in several places. The silvery bands glinted in a golden hue in the sunlight, but they were clearly not of gold. Just above the leather hand grip was a band of iron with a shining silver signet.

Danost brandished the club above his head, waving it to and fro.

"This is a weapon the likes of which you have never before seen! It was recently crafted by the most cunning of sages, using mystical formulas unknown to common mortals. The formulas for its creation come from mysterious tomes of lore recovered from the tomb of none other than the long-dead Arch Priest Ucdauh himself! People of Cteduul! I bring you Ucdauh's Club of Suffering!"

With this pronouncement the gathering crowd began calling for Danost to tell the tale of the recovery of the mysterious tomb. Danost brandished the club wildly, and regaled the crowd with a long tale of how he had slain ravening hordes of undead before finally reaching the tomb of the long-dead Ucdauh. The crowd cheered as he brandished the club, re-enacting the fight with the undead monstrosity.

When the tale was finally over, the voice of the crowd rose once again in accolade. As the cheers died off, Danost raised his hands for one final pronouncement:

"People of Cteduul! Is there anyone here willing to part with a few gold coins in return for the prestige that can be brought to their name by wielding Ucdauh's Club of Suffering with their own hand? What say you all?"
