Children

The Duke of Avamar was in his Ivory Tower. His guests were with him in a large room where a bard was playing a flute and young servants were preparing a table with a great dinner. One of his hound dogs lounged on a rug near the fireplace. A pleasant night. The Lady that he had kidnapped was there with him and now with a smile in his lips. The time had passed for them. While the warrior was struggling, she had married and now had a beautiful son and daughter. Children. They were there with them, tormenting the dog or listening Erik tell about his adventures. Her husband had been properly sent to solve some business. After all, his wife had assured that Erik would not try anything. She was right. The Duke just wanted to have some nice moments. And the kids just loved him. They loved the gifts and tales. Earlier, they had visited the city and Erik told them he would give a great festival just to amuse them. Who else could do something like that!?

After the hearty dinner, Erik sat in his armchair and let the kids settled with him. They heard the bard perform a song while beautiful dancers captivated their eyes. At the end of the exhibition, the young boy clutched Erik's arm.

Boy: "Tell us another tale!"

Erik Eyolf: "What kind of tale would you like to listen now?"

Girl: "Terror!"

Boy: "No! War!"

Erik Eyolf: "I'll give a free advice, boy. Try to please the women. They will please you in return. Try to remember it always."

The boy grimaced and his sister smiled victoriously. Their mother was not very pleased with Erik's advice, but she knew him well. Everyone in Sirion knew him very well. The bard left the flute and picked up the lute where he could get more scary sounds. Instead of a tale, Erik sang to them.

Say your prayers, little one,

Don't forget, my son,

To include everyone

Tuck you in, warm within,

Keep you free from sin

Till the Sandman, he comes!

Sleep with one eye open,

Gripping your pillow tight

Exit, light,

Enter, night

Take my hand,

We're off to never never land

Something's wrong, shut the light,

Heavy thoughts tonight

And they aren't of snow white

Dreams of war,

Dreams of liars,

Dreams of dragon's fire,

And of things that will bite!

Hush little baby, don't say a word,

And never mind that noise you heard

It's just the beast under your bed,

In your wardrobe, in your head!

Exit, light,

Enter, night

Grain of sand

Exit, light,

Enter, night

Take my hand,

We're off to never never land.

Erik sang with a tunder voice and frightened them pinching their belly. When he finished, the children screamed and ran to roll into the carpet with the huge dog. The Duke laughed satisfied, but soon all that party ended. Erik take them to the bedroom where they would sleep. After they lay down, he whispered:

Erik Eyolf: "I have with me a magic sand. It falls from my fingers, invisible, and in no time you are asleep."

Boy: "That's impossible!"

Erik Eyolf: "Impossible? I am the Silver Dragon. At night, when children like you are sleeping, I spread my wings to fly high in the sky. The fire of my soul salivating in my jaws. Ready to burn. I can do anything. And now, I'll lay down my sand in your eyes and you will sleep. Tomorrow we have a festival to enjoy."

Girl: "And my mother?"

Erik Eyolf: "We are old friends. Don't worry, I am not hungry today. Now, you two... repeat with me"

Now I lay me down to sleep,

Pray Elune my soul to keep

If I die before I wake,

Pray Elune my soul to take

They prayed. He smiled and did his magic with them. In no time they were sleeping. Erik would dance a little with his guest.
