The Nobodies

Erik took his armor and let the squires clean up the blood so they could polish the metal with sand. He wiped the blood of the Sacred Sword with a white handkerchief and smiled. He was happy to be back on the battlefield, even though he was fighting against shadows of his former enemies. They had no honor. They had no strength. They were just desperate. And like any desperate one, they were cowards. Maybe it was not their nature, but who could blame them? Their own behavior had been twisted towards the imminent defeat. They created puppets in the hope of enduring against the war. Replaced their former allies with a cowardly realm without honor. And now the masters were the decadent image of their slaves.

The Stormwalkers protected the temple in Oporto. As always, Erik liked to stay near the temples. It was his way of protecting the local people and the religion of the gods. Not the religion of men. Because men were low and cowardly and used the gods and religion as a weapon. But the people sought only hope to live another day. Happily, Erik was an elf. The flags were there. The flag of the Silver Dragon, of the Silver Legion and the flag of the Stormwalkers. A serpent, a dragon and a lightning punishing the lands. And the flag of the Judge of Sirion, a silver shield with symbols of ancient times.

Erik was particularly happy in Oporto. He offered a justice to those people that Gabriella ever could. A desperate and weak woman. Frustrated. Erik wondered if she had found the grace of a man. That certainly would make her a little happy. It was time to begin the ritual.

Erik Eyolf: "Never cared for what they know. But I know!"

The sacrifice was necessary. The lamb was sacrificed to cover his body with sacred blood. The old sorcerer Nerash was there to read in the guts and decipher signs the blood was drawing. The Priests of the Flow called Erik of "Blood Elf". Perhaps they were right because the Margrave of Trinbar was covered in blood. And he had shed more blood than anyone in that war. Then he looked at the Temple. He knew that the Priestess had dreamed with the blood elf covered in sanguineous red. They waited for him with the warmth of the flames burning inside them. Erik was the Flow, but never the Balance. He never destroyed a temple because while the temple was there, he would show the face of Elune to those Priestesses. And they would love, because he was not a stupid Priest. He was soul and blood. He was fire. The vivid spark of Creation.

Erik Eyolf Serpentis entered the temple. The Stormwalkers made the earth sake hitting their swords against their shields. They called for the Thunder. And the Thunder sing his sacred song. The priests were dragged out. They were not allowed to witness the holy communion. Only the Priestesses could witness the endless power of Creation. And everyone heard his last words after entering the temple.

Erik Eyolf: "I'm your hate. I'm your hate when you want love. I'm your dream, make you real. I'm inside open your eyes..."

The soldiers shouted and sang. The sound was deafening.

Stormwalkers: "This land is mine!!! This land is free!!! Admire my song, here's my coat!!!"

An hour later, Erik left the temple. He opened his arms and felt the wind blowing against her naked body covered in blood. He had felt once again the conversion of Creation.

Erik Eyolf: "I'm at peace with my lust..."

The Priests were expelled. The soldiers shouted and felt the power of Thunder shook their souls. Elune was among them. The Thunder was singing and Ora, the Warrior Goddess, savored the victory. Erik searched the bard while he try to find a pitcher of wine to quench his thirst.

Erik Eyolf: "Bard... which song the Fontanese soldiers should be singing today?"

The bard smiled and walked in front of the troops. And then he recited the song that Fontan should be singing that day.

Today I'm dirty, and I want to be pretty

Tomorrow I know I'm just dead

We are the nobodies

We want to be somebody's

We're dead, we know just who we are...

Erik laughed and the soldiers laughed as well with satisfaction. And they will march against Fontan. And they knew they would win, because nothing could stop them. Their enemies were only the "nobodies". Nothing more.
