Plate Mail Dominoes

"...and with one quick snap of the wrist, my blade threw his own out to the side. Whilst he was momentarily unbalanced, I planted one heavy boot on his plated chest and kicked my leg forward..." He demonstrated on the poor soldier to his side (who had lost the game of rock-paper-scissors between his companions) by re-enacting the scene with exaggerated and slow motions.

A few of the children in the large crowd gasped at the action and suspense of the tale that this funny old man was spinning. They sat enraptured on the ground in the front. Some of the older men, veteran soldiers perhaps, grunted and nodded their heads in appreciation of the described battle.

Meanwhile, the five other unlucky men, who were also dressed in plate mail and had drawn short straws as well, sighed and waited for their commander to just finish the story already. They stood in a row, their backs to the audience, fighting off imaginary foes on the walls of some distant city that they had never seen.

The speaker thrust his foot out, and what happened next elicited uproarious and hysterical laughter from children and adults alike! The six soldiers, however, were not amused as they lay groaning on the ground. Many had tears rolling down their faces, and one fat fellow had even fallen down in his mirth.

With a theatrical swirl of his sword in the air, the center of everyone's attention finished the story.

"And so the day was ours, and the battle was won!"

He bowed amidst joyful cheers and loud applause, both of which drowned out the continued groans and cries for help to stand up from the fallen men, who had dropped precisely like a row of dominoes, albeit silver, bulky, and armor-plated ones instead of the usual black.

A couple daring children stood up and ran up to the soldiers, only to kick at them gleefully to imitate the Hero.

"Why you little--"

"Arrrgh, get--!"

"--runts"

"Damn child--"

"I'm gonna stran--"

"--off me you oaf!"

"--ren these days, no manners!"

"--gle you and see if you laugh then!"

Xarnelf guffawed heartily with the audience at the sorry sight and allowed the young ones to have their fun for another ten-count before moving to intervene before someone really got hurt.
