Realm hierarchy, allegiance and oath

In Darka we have a chain of Command with the King at its head. Darka’s law is notorious for its brutality against those who dare challenge or plot against our leaders or way of doing things within our kingdom. Our Kingdom allows more freedom and bloodlust then any realm on the planet, and for this reason alone we will stand to defend its Hierarchy until our last standing breath. The following is a good understanding of our realm’s hierarchy.

Our King

The Mercenary King, the King of Gold, the Lord of War, The King of Darka. This title is given to the head of our realm. As this is written, the King is currently “King Kostaja Kosunen Cosula”. He has always been king for as long as I have served Darka, and I owe him my life and everything I have earned within Darka. The King is wise and not very open in public debate or chitchat. Not that he is antisocial or cold, he is actually a very warm and fun loving man, but he spends much time with larger matters then casual conversation. The King is a busy man who strives to see us all paid and knee deep in blood for profit. His history is long and decorated with adventure, honor and bravery.

The King is our most important figure within Darka. No loyalty to anyone eles is greater or more demanded. As a Black Dog you are to take that idea to the next level. It is sworn that all Darkans serve our king…but us Black Dogs proclaim ourselves to be more devoted to the crown then any other man, woman or child alive. If the king murdered your parents in cold blood, you as a Black Dog would be there to help him hide the bodies.

Any student of mine who even mentions ill-word or potty-mouth jest of our Crown will be seen as a traitor. Even his name is worthy of defending with your life. We as Dogs operate on a fine rule “We never show sign of fear or disrespect in the eye of the Crown”. We are his elite pets of death and destruction, and we savor all blood and trust he throws our way.

High Marshal

Our War father and Master of Swords; as this was written the High Marshal was “Herumor Corsairs”, (as it has always been since my stay). This man is a damn fine warrior, perhaps the best war-mind on the planet, and the man who single handedly controls all the waves of mercenary armies in our command. He is not a man to ever conflict with or mistrust. Darka as a Kingdom is placed in his hands during all times of war. His duty to us is to see us victorious, paid and suffering the least casualties in war. I have personally witnessed this man win us war after war, contract after contract. If my brothers went to war I would hope he lead the way. Marshal Herumor controls ALL armies and places faith in us to obey his commands. To doubt or disobey this man is a sure way to earn me, the Volcano and the rest of Darka as a sworn enemy to you.

Arch Priestess

The Law mother of Darka creates, upholds and delivers all laws, executions and banishments of Darka. She is utterly holy in her title as the highest Priestess on the continent, and even the world. Her word is law, her whim is written in stone. No man, woman or child below the king has any say in her ultimate views on what is and what is not legal in Darka.

Arch Priestess Lavigna Galadeon has ruled as Law Mother since my arrival and is my liege, master, advisor and personal friend. Any and all who ever show a sign of disrespect to her should be seen as a heretic and traitor. Her good grace can be the difference between life in Darka and death in the Volcano. No other mortal has ever done more for your Mentor then Lavigna, and for that she is respected “above the gods” by me. I hope all Black Dogs join me in swearing to protect, inform and vote for Lady Lavigna in all the things she says and does.

The Law Mother is world famous for her deadly torture and ways of bringing painful death to traitors and criminals worthy of her skills in destroying the mortal shell. It is best to earn her respect and stay away from her dungeons.

Royal Treasurer

In Darka, Gold is seen as holy and more important then honor or prestige. Gold is our way of life, the reason we war, the heart and soul of our realm and worthy of prayer. For these reasons, the Treasurer of the realm is on par with some of the highest religious titles of the Kingdom. Queen Araarent Vasata is our Royal Treasurer, wife to our King, mother to our Prince and Princess (Uuno and Nadina), and the High Priestess of Darkanism. She is a devout member of the church of Darkanism and a directing force of its movement throughout the world. All honor and respect that is deserved of the Crown is also deserved of the Queen. Those who attempt to offend, harm or hinder our good Queen are to be viciously disemboweled by any and all Black Dogs.

The realms collective fortune is in the wise and protective hands of our Royal Treasurer. To disrespect her is to spit in the face and pockets of every Mercenary under the Darkan banner.

Oaths and a Liege

In Darka you would do badly to not choose and serve a Liege. Swearing an oath to a local lord will insure you get paid, represented and supported in all the buinsess of Darkan Nobility. An unsworn knight is a wandering noble while one with a liege has a worthy superior within our kingdom.

Your Liege is where the majority of your weekly Gold will come from. It is best to ask around and see who has room in their expenses for new Knights. Once a Lord has given you good word, you can swear and oath to that lord. You will be then asked to set your oath level.

Now here is the tricky part. Swearing an oath level is up to you and your liege. That should be worked out between you and the Lord you are asking to be your Liege. The bond between a liege and Noble can be a wonderful thing or a horrible one. It all depends on you and your connection with your liege. Serving above the call of duty, showing total loyalty or pleasing your liege often are all things that can earn you the love or respect of your liege. Its all in your hands there.

Just know, that without a liege, you will be without proper funding for war, drinks and payment of your units.

Did you pass this lesson?

Did this all make sense and help you with learning the ropes of the subject? If so, awesome, if not…well…not so awesome. If this didn’t help, or sucked in anyway, just tell me and I’ll do my best to make it better. Thanks!
