Most legends of the Emerald Dragon make little mention of the arrow itself and are concerned mainly with the potency of the hero that fired it. The Emerald-Studded Arrow of Nuas is a minor enchanted weapon mentioned in the oral traditions of the peasants of Nuas. According to legend, it was the arrow used by an ancient mythical hero (various legends name different heroes) to slay Raelzibaal the Emerald Dragon. Legends say the arrow was fired with such force that it passed through the dragon's body completely, becoming permanently encrusted with emeralds from the dragon's skin.

Recovery

Modern settlers to the region of Nuas repeated the legend of the Emerald Dragon but considered it a fairy tale until the arrow itself was found by Galeo of House Sciurus. Galeo, an adventurer from Atamara, claimed the arrow from the hoard of a large monster while adventuring in Nuas.

Structure

The arrow is a cloth-yard shaft meant to be fired from a longbow. As its name implies, the wood of the shaft is embedded with over a hundred small emerald fragments, making the arrow unusually heavy. The fletchings are made from an iridescent green-blue feather not belonging to any bird native to the region. It is tipped with a steel broadhead that has been blackened, as if by an intense heat.

Properties

Most legends of the Emerald Dragon make little mention of the arrow itself and are concerned mainly with the potency of the hero that fired it. The obvious value of such an arrow has discouraged any test firings that might determine its flight characteristics. As an artifact of an earlier mythical age, simply possessing the arrow confers great esteem from the people in Nuas and surrounding regions (+1 Prestige).
