:As far as fantasy names go, "Aegis" is usually used to denote some form of shield or buckler. After all, the original Ægis was Zeus' shield. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aegis) ''(It's what I would have assumed, also.)''However, if the game doesn't specify that the item is a shield, then I don't see why the finder couldn't decide what type of item it is for himself, as odd as it may sound to someone else. As far as fantasy names go, "Aegis" is usually used to denote some form of shield or buckler. After all, the original Ægis was Zeus' shield. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aegis) (It's what I would have assumed, also.)However, if the game doesn't specify that the item is a shield, then I don't see why the finder couldn't decide what type of item it is for himself, as odd as it may sound to someone else.
