It was a stormy night in Sanzzos, when the determined adventurer Louis ventured into the cave. After tracking the troll infestation for the entire day, all paths led to a cave on the outskirts of a small, isolated village. The cave was dark and ominous, and human bones were strewn about outside. An acidic smell emanated from within, and pools of bubbling, steaming blood collected in the rocks.
Despite this dangerous environment, Louis didn't fear the evils inside the cave. He was well versed in adventuring and swordsmanship, and no monster could withstand his blade, nor manage to catch his surprise. He had been honing his skills on monsters such as these for many moons, and even managed to make a decent living for himself and his family.
As he always did before entering a lair, he kissed the charm on a necklace that contained an etching of his wife and daughter. It brought him luck, and kept him focused on the task at hand. He not only wanted to claim the treasure from these foul beasts, but to keep the lands of Ohnar West safe for his family.
His blade drawn, he sneaks inside, slicing down the first few trolls before they even saw what was coming. Leaving the steaming corpses behind, Louis ventured deeper into the darkness.
Coming across a fork in the cave, a dim light was emitted from the left side. A less experienced adventurer would have gone toward the light, but Louis knew that he must clear out the darkness to keep from being caught from behind. Dispatching two more trolls, he cleared the right fork and turned back towards the left.
Down the tunnel, Louis sees the enormous troll lord - his eyes bulging from their green sockets. The creature is licking the bones of its last meal, and it is unaware of Louis' approach. It barks out some order, but his minions have already been slain. Annoyed, it rises from its heap of heap of meat and spots Louis in the entrance. The troll grabs a large femur bone, approximately 4 feet in length, and charges towards Louis.
The battle ensues - the nimble Louis narrowly avoids the crashing blows of the huge bludgeon, but sees no opening for an attack. Glancing around, Louis comes up with a plan. He runs back towards the fork in the tunnel, and hides in the shadow. The slow, lumbering troll runs past, towards the entrance of the cave and past Louis' hiding spot. Knowing he only has seconds to act, he places his sword on the ground, blade up, and runs to the entrance counting the paces. At the entrance, the troll is making his way back to his lair and spots Louis. Louis lets the troll get within two paces of him, running just slightly ahead. The numbers run through Louis' mind - 10...9...8...7...6! Louis crouches to the ground as the troll trips, falling face first to the cave floor.
Louis slowly rises to see the troll still face down on the cave floor, the tip of the sword showing through the back of its greasy neck. The creature has been defeated, and Louis retrieves the armor and returns to the village.
This, my friends, is the story of how Louis claimed the White Plate Mail of the Kings from the venomous troll lord.
